Carb face  Cool Love it not sure our grain scoffing low fat dietitians will approve  Shocked

Meanwhile: Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN)

Joint SACN - NHS England - Diabetes UK working group to review the evidence on lower carbohydrate diets (alongside higher fat and/or higher protein) compared to current government advice for adults with type 2 diabetes.

How can we pretend we never condemned low carb diets while continuing to recommend high carb diets? It's a step I suppose.

I put the SACN site behind my ear for later.

And now the BDA it appears is spouting vegan propaganda, no surprises there then given their tie up with the vegan society

Meat and dairy products are leading contributors to Green House Gas (GHG) emissions (6) and other environmental impacts and emphasis should be on reduction of meat (red and processed meat in particular) and processed meat products (PMP)
in line with the Eatwell Guide (EWG) (7) and replaced with appropriate plant based proteins such as beans and pulses, and plant based dairy alternatives. The EWG support increased fruit and vegetable intakes, more wholegrain carbohydrates and
reduced saturated fat, sugar and salt intakes.

Utter bollocks of course (I haven't yet read it, that was just an inspired guess). What about all the diesel and agrochemicals needed to grow grain and all the air miles and truck miles needed to import and transport all those foreign grown ten-a-day vegetables and fruit? And don't even THINK of all the vegan farts. Then there are all those industrially produced "plant milks", how much energy is used in the factories squeezing the tits on all those soybeans and almonds?

    Meanwhile total surreality is reached

    "Guidance Statement 2:
Clinicians should aim to achieve an HbA1c level between 7% and 8% in most patients with type 2 diabetes.

    Guidance Statement 3:
Clinicians should consider deintensifying pharmacologic therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes who achieve HbA1c levels less than 6.5%."

Are they all mentally ill or does it just look like it from outside?

"Current evidence is clear no one diet is clearly superior."

Well not until you look at trigs, HDL, insulin, glucose and all those other irrelevances. etc. etc.

I suspect a very slow pedalling away from high carb low fat for all, but so carefully they hope no-one will notice.

You will be hard pushed to find any reference to low carb on the DUK website, they do however give their blessings to:

    Special Diets
    Dairy free
    Freezer safe
    Gluten free
    Low fat
    Low sugar
    Nut free
    Vegan
    Vegetarian

A carb fest at every meal is still the most promoted at DUK for T2s

Hmmm, a doctor who reverses diabetes live on prime time TV or a dietician who spent years warning diabetics of the extreme dangers of low carb diets, and presides over one of the fattest parts of the UK. I know where I'd put my money.
