    Well lower carb

Always worth noticing when mainstream figures, especially media-savvy doctors, go against Conventional Wisdom. frankly it's a small step he's taken but it's a step compared to the likes of Mehmet Oz and most other "media doctors" still welded to their low fat paradigm. Perhaps he can be trained . . .

Thanks for this Chris ... not an article I'd read, but now having used your link,

I did enjoy reading these sentences from Dr Mark Porter

"My only regret is that I wish I had tried this in my twenties"

and "  – but I am a convert to the view that too much sugar and other carbs (which the body converts to sugar) is more harmful than most appreciate. "

    All the best Jan

I'm going to post something there, just haven't gotten around to it yet. That's if it doesn't get moderated.

Well that was a bit of a waste of time. He doesn't seem to have truly grasped the fact that even a small change made significant improvements over the "healthy diet" and gone looking to see how much greater improvements he could make by being more radical. I wonder what diet he recommends for his patients, especially the diabetics.

Strange, I noticed he made some rather snippy replies to the over fifty comments he'd received, particularly to mine, after which his blog went dead.

I found him quite reasonable on Twitter so revisited his blog to find my post had been DELETED. Not sure that a couple of other hadn't gone too.

I wonder if he's just an arrogant SOB or if he had been pressured by the BBC or The Times.

Seeing he's the BMA council chair maybe he's been got at by those with vested interests in big food on the other hand some fat RD's could have warned him about the perils of LC

Er no, that's a DIFFERENT Mark Porter!

I can understand why you'd get confused though, like all the different clueless people called Collins.

Very odd though that he hadn't made any further blog posts since then, and that one garnered more replies than anything else he ever wrote.. He does mention being a low carber on twitter several times though and got away with it so far.

Hehe, he should have deleted my reply off the Wayback Machine as well

    https://web.archive.org/web/20160526203646/http://drmarkporter.co.uk/low-carb-diet-my-6-week-experiment-to-see-how-cutting-back-on-carbs-impacted-on-my-blood-cholesterol-lipid-profile

What the fuck was so offensive about that that the C*** had to delete it?

Now, Mark, THAT was offensive, just so you know the difference. Actually I thought his response was quite a lot more offensive than my reply.

Probably he was disciplined by one of his paymasters

I didn't bother to look to see if there were any other deletions. I hoped that by listing some sources the people looking over his shoulder might be tempted to educate themselves. Plus any other readers who wanted to Know Stuff.
