I guessed that. I suppose we should be chuffed they they deem us enough of a threat to bank our link already lol ! There are 100's of links posted on "the other forum" !

I've had a few of those in the past and they're a bit spooky-especially the ones from members who have never posted that were sent to me and another small group of low carbers specifically but the content was not low carb or diabetes related...Very strange!

My personal fave was the one who told me that he hoped I'd die and called me a brainwashed fat assed bitch. Also called me a stupid ugly ****! Nice! Total nutter - or he'd gone too low as he didn't believe in meds and ran himself deliberately at below 3!paul1976 wrote:Indy51 wrote:Can't say I'm surprised there are snitches at that joint - after all, some of 'em also post abusive messages on people's profiles as well - that really creeped me out when I heard about itmo1905 wrote:Indy51 wrote:Oh well, seems like someone snitched to the mods - when you report a PM, a copy goes to them, so that's how they found the link to this place

My hubbie belongs the LFGS forum for fixed gear riders. They're hardcore - they are merciless in their response to members who ask questions which can be looked up on Google and the response is usually : utfs (use the f**** search!). They have a brilliant miscellaneous thread with loads of offensive jokes. I find them often hilarious but then I'm sick and twisted!Indy51 wrote:I guess we'll let you - just don't post about some obscure medical condition you have aside from diabetes, then when nobody responds within 5 minutes, throw a tantrum and leave in a huff. Why should people do their own online medical research when they can get someone else to do their googling for themScandichic wrote:Does that mean I'm not allowed to post?!Indy51 wrote:Not to mention drama queens and panic merchantsJack4 wrote:G'Day cobber. Yeah you can do that on a hobby site, but usually a bit milder than utfs
It's frustrating on DCUK when you get the same basic questions asked again and again, when the answers are to be found within the site or by searching/browsing around. But because it's a health-related site and people come on already a bit traumatised you have to treat it with kid gloves and try and answer (or hope someone else does).

I used to answer but now it depends on how much time I have. As you say people are upset and the other site is probably the first sensible and kind response they get.sanguine wrote:Scandichic wrote:

Re: A bit of an introduction !
I've started making 'Google is your friend' comments.
It's either that, or copying and pasting a standard response in, and I'm rather opposed to that.
I think newbies need to get a response. If they don't, they either won't come back, or they'll retreat to lurking and feeling like they are outsiders watching 'the in crowd', which is horrible.

Re: A bit of an introduction !
I really cannot be bothered with DCUK, the haters love to hate amd the admins just want you to buy stuff from them. The signal to noise ratio is appalingly low really. If they are reading PM's (they probably are not, its more likely a bot) then they may well get themselves in trouble if they dont admit it in the T's and C's. If they retain your details for marketing purposes without your permission amd refuse to remove them when asked then they are in brach of the EU privact directives, amd the fines are massive for that, especially if its health related imformation.

Trouble is though Thommo, whenever you sign up to a new website or something nowadays, there is usually a button
needto tick "accept terms and conditions". Who actually reads them all though ?

"Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools." Douglas Bader
All the members here are intelligent good people, they don't need to be told the rules, they all know the areas to keep well away from. Our freedom of speech has cost the lives of millions over the years, but having freedom of speech carries responsibility.
Kind regards Eddie

Re: A bit of an introduction !
Hi All
A massive thank you to all members who have joined and posted some great posts. You have all taken a leap of faith in going the low carb route to your salvation. It has paid off big time for you and me. Thank you for taking a leap of faith and joining this forum. We are new and a minnow in a big pond, but I am chuffed by the activity, the quality and the number of posts. Always remember, from acorns oak trees grow, much work lays ahead, but if we can save one diabetic from the horrors of serious diabetes complications we will have won. I truly believe, together, we can save many.
Good luck and health to you and yours,
Kind regards Eddie
