Have a Chat - October
Out on the lake fishing today, does my blood pressure a power of good and others I suspect. The less I post the better some would say. Anyway four magnificent carp over the landing net and another fantastic day for weather, not to mention topping up the old Vit D. No scurvy, Rickets or Yellow Jack for me.

Re: Have a Chat - October
Another lovely day ... and off out soon to get some weekend goodies, wonder if I may see any bargains.
Family members are busy too ballet, karate, gym, hockey, a walk around a Farmers Market plus a birthday party at a local farm ... should be fun! I'm quite exhausted by the thought of it all! LOL!
Anyway much to Eddie's dismay my seat on the sofa is reserved for tonight's Strictly BBC1 at 6.20pm
Hope you have a good Saturday - have you plans - or done anything special ...
All the best Jan

According to the weather forecast ... rain is heading our way!
But many of the gardens still have such lovely colour just like the two images I got from google!
Enjoy a nice walk and perhaps take a flask of mushroom soup with you. It's Eddie and my favourite soup.

Sounds like a lovely day. The weather was chilly yesterday and for a change we had a good idea what to wear. You can wear 4 different sets of clothes to deal with weather changes throughout the day.
It was lovely though.
We went round the Albert Dock and the ship Zebu had sunk! A number of pirates were fundraising. They are going to try and get it in dry dock in November.
Today - school work in front of Lewis. Hope you have a lovely day today.

So true about knowing what to wear! The mornings can be so different from the afternoons ... layers is best I think.
... and hey! Are my calculations right? Only 15 more get up mornings 'til half term?

That might be OK for you but what about a poor old grandad like me who has to get out of bed at silly o'clock to look after them

Oh Clive Dunne- bless him. Wasn't he in his early 40s playing a pensioner?
My hols are child free. I love working with kids but if we had any they'd end up in care!
I like the Harry Potter way. Kid under the stairs, fed and watered once a day wether they need it or not.

I have had kids with me for almost 44 years. Six kids and five grandchildren, and I work with kids. I absolutely love them all. For their enthusiasm, their honesty and their can do attitude. Me and Jan working in Cambridge today with over a hundred year sevens out in the rain, a total joy and privileged to be with them.

We are very fortunate to have worked with hundreds of thousands of kids. Jan has worked with kids for over 30 years, me a mere 21 years. From Bournemouth in the South to Lancaster in the North. We will miss them badly when we become to old. It's the travel that wears us out, and the very early rises, never the kids.

Re: Have a Chat - October
I used to make a great "disreputable uncle" but I'm very wary of kids nowadays. Her across t'street has had her drop-dead-gorgeous daughter round a few times with her cute little son, who spends much of his time peddling up and down the road in his pedal car or pedal tractor and trailer. She gets worn out just watching him, but the advantage of being a gran is you get to hand them back when you get tired.
Friends have three, and a dog. I don't know how they cope. Oh yes I do, they're still young.

Oh what a beautiful Monday morning!
Whatever you may be doing today, I hope it's a good one. Even if it's a washing or shopping day ...
Perhaps you may get time for a walk?

Re: Have a Chat - October
Well perhaps this might not be a subject matter to have a chat about
This time of year it is also time when many may be thinking about the flu jab - shall I or shan't I, it is of course a personal decision.
Flu is a highly infectious illness that spreads rapidly through the coughs and sneezes of people who are carrying the virus.
If you're at risk of complications from flu, make sure you have your annual flu vaccine, available each year usually from October onwards.
There are two types of flu vaccine:
the injected flu vaccine for adults and children under two
nasal spray flu vaccine for children over the age of two
Picture and words from here

Any thoughts ...

Re: Have a Chat - October
Can't remember when I last had the flu. Since I started low carbing I seldom even get colds, or the squits, or anything else much. Well not infections anyway.
As to the flu jab, I shan't bother again. Much depends on how it is administered too. Here mother used to get it when she went in for a routine B12 jab. Where we used to live, they called all the old folks in at once over several days. First you had to negotiate all the reversing Nissan Micras in the car park. If you survived that you got to sit in a room with a bunch of other old folks for an hour or two exchanging viruses. So you came out immune to the flu (theoretically, it didn't always work) but pretty much guaranteed to catch something else.

Re: Have a Chat - October
What a wet day today!
Whenever we had weather like this my mum would always say "it's alright if you're a duck"
Was she right I wonder?
This sort of weather doesn't inspire you to go out does it?
Now where did I put my umbrella?
