I've been mostly walking on the farmland far from the madding crowds and catching a load of rays.

Lots of insects around including various small solitary wasps, hawthorn/St Mark's/black flies with the dangling and very hairy legs, and a brilliant emerald green beetle with a surprising turn of speed, along with all the butterflies.

No rain ... yet ... this Bank Holiday weekend.

Out and about I saw a lot of children probably aged about 5yrs with some wonderful painted faces Smile
I think the local fete that was on did well, there seemed to be lots of folks milling around and enjoying themselves.

We always find it's best not to travel far over the Bank holiday weekends - I hope those who are travelling have good journeys with not too many hold ups!

I wonder were you doing anything special this weekend?

We were lucky (so far), there was a huge thunderstorm way off in the west on Saturday, and yesterday a slow moving but not so violent one out to the east.

Apart from that it has mostly been hot and sunny though sometimes with a sea fret this far inland.

Yes, it's the August Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK.
With talk of plenty of travel chaos, we will not be going far.

I believe there is a Grand Prix happening in Belgium !!!

I think we may catch it on TV

Have you any Bank Holiday plans?

Me too! I'll be going where only us locals go. Today was a bit unspecial, numerous huge caravans and the sort of idiots in Mercedes and Audis who think driving less than three feet from the verge will lead to immediate death, let alone using their indicators.

Bank Holiday Weekend … came and went, and it was a wash out at times …
Felt sorry for those who had gone away expecting good weather - it was rather mixed.

Never mind, and as Graham mentioned Christmas santa  I guess the countdown has begun!
Well our local restaurants are already advertising 'book now for Christmas'

    Followed by the easter eggs.

I didn't go far, drove round a few nearby villages and collected another bag of runner beans then walked over some fields in the middle of nowhere. The beans went down the hatch with another juicy lamb chop.

Well it seems only yesterday that it was Easter … and families were (hopefully) spending time together.
For many a welcome break from work for others a very important time in the Christian Church.

Moving onto May and many in the UK have enjoyed a long weekend for the early Spring Bank Holiday - made extra special today by the arrival of Baby Sussex. Yes, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their new baby boy …

To all new mums (and new parents) who welcomed a new born today - Congratulations.

Hope all readers enjoyed their Monday.

    All the best Jan

Bit of a relaxed one for us,nothing too taxing as bank holidays should be,a lay in,chilling with a bottle of wine (Or 2) listening to the more chilled stations on internet radio with a cold roast chicken salad with cold hard boiled eggs with a big dollop of mayo for tea and a stroll to the village pub for a few bevvies...Not too shabby a day I reckon. Some may be saying Yippee as another UK Bank Holiday weekend comes around …

One of our sons took the Friday as annual leave so is looking forward (and enjoying) a four day break.

Of course when you are retired every day is a bank holiday! LOL!

I will shortly be cooking salmon for dinner this evening … and some lovely low carb vegetables. Did I also mention the chilled bottle of Sauvignon Blanc in the fridge Smile

Whatever your plans are this weekend, I wish you a good one.

    All the best Jan
