World Diabetes Healthy Breakfast Empty World Diabetes Healthy Breakfast

Post by Sally Thu Nov 13 2014, 16:39

“Elsewhere” on the internet, I’ve just been reading, under “Diabetic News” an item headlined “World Diabetes Day urges healthy breakfast to start day”.  What an excellent idea, I thought, and clicked on it, to find a large illustration of a glass of fresh orange juice, a glass of milk and a pile of crumpets or pancakes, with what looked a bit like syrup drizzled over them.  Moving on to the text,  I am quickly advised that cereals and toast “may” cause blood sugar levels to rise.  Not “will”, “may”.  Toast and a bowl of cornflakes might just be fine then?

No need for questions, further down we are reassured that those clever scientists have been busy on our behalf, “This is where research can improve your health and your diabetes – choosing low sugar, high fibre cereals, wholegrain bread ……… much healthier breakfast options”.

So, three cheers for World Diabetes on Lots of Drugs Day, hip hip …….

A man I have great respect for Dr. Malcolm Kendrick says this, if only all Doctors had his courage and brains.

“The reality is that over the years, and around the world we have killed literally millions of diabetics by advising them to eat a high-carb diet and avoid fats. Only now is it being recognised that previous advice was and remains useless, dangerous and scientifically illiterate"

freakout freakout I'm sure this will go down 'Favourably' elsewhere but good lord they either want us all dead before 65 to reduce the welfare bill or they want everyone on Insulin regardless of type so they can say "Well we did all we could including placing the patient on Insulin therapy so Mr/Mrs X's complications and early death must be due to non compliance with the current healthy eating guidelines..." The HCP's are covered, big pharma is happy and so is the junk health food industry...Win-Win for all...except us! No

Also that toast and cereal *can* (can?) contain carbs.

I've just posted on that item, I wonder how long it will last. Those threads don't come up on the main forum if you hit recent posts I just discovered.

So Rod, the management have made a decision that only some recent posts come up in the recent post section, very slippery indeed. How long before all low carb posts do not come up in the recent posts section? or any post that does not fit in with the deal the management feels could interfere with their wish to tie up with big pharma?

Now I read this earlier and I decided I must be reading it wrong. It's called 'recent posts' yet all 'recent posts' won't show? Why would anyone do that? So it should be called 'selected recent posts' surely? So not all posts are welcome? Isn't that called 'censorship?' Nah, it's me being paranoid again. scratch

Well for a start, why was Fergus Craigs 'Low carb diet-a newbies guide' allowed to run for several years and then suddenly locked without explanation last year?

    http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/low-carb-diet-a-newbies-guide.9427/page-8

They certainly didn't want that being bumped up into recent/new posts it would appear. Evil or Very Mad
