I have a raging sore throat today  so I'm feeling sorry for myself which is my least favourite quality

I am wondering, if the body decides we need extra glucose when we are unwell/infections etc. there must be a benefit to having higher bg when we get ill? Is there a healing process that is helped by it? Would it therefore make sense to allow ourselves to go higher when Ill?

Well I always get better quicker if I don't do anything to bring down a temperature....so maybe it works with BG's too. I hadn't thought of that before, I dunno is my answer.

It would be interesting to test this theory on a non-diabetic who gets ill. Any volunteers ?

When one of my sons was ill, I can always remember him saying 'the red blood cells are fighting the white cells'. I guess he was right, he also said 'I hope they sort it out soon, so I can feel better' He was about 8yr to 10yr at the time ....and he still talks about it sometimes today ......do you remember when ....... !

i feel like death today, i once watched a tv program where it was explained that a cold or virus was like a locker and your body had a basket full of keys, we pick up a key and try the lock, that key dosent work so rather than us throwing that key out of the basket and choosing another, the key that didn't work is thrown back into the basket and another is selected, this means sometimes we are lucky and find the key straight away, sometimes it takes ages as we keep picking up the same keys and retrying them....

I'm pretty sure this is probably nonsense, but for some reason it gives me comfort when I'm ill, i mentally will myself to find the right key, whilst gently encouraging myself to keep looking, almost talking to my antibodies

am i weird?....

Nope, not weird just talking gibberish. Do you have a high temperature by any chance? When I'm ill, I rest all day long But then I'm just lazy.

dunno, i feel shaky so probably, I'm taking benalin flu capsules which i know i am not supposed to but i don't care

I tend to do that too. If I'm ill I take what I need to make me feel better. It may be wrong but I don't like being ill

Jeez mate! That sounds like real deal Flu if you're shaky as well as that sounds far worse than any cold I've ever known...plenty of rest and fluids + painkillers and get well soon dude!

i had flu and it basically meant i literally thought i was going to die, i couldn't get out of bed and go to work, this isn't that, this is just wanting to go to bed
