Re: Check in and Chat - November 2014
Is anyone else cold?
I woke up this morning cold to the bone Floor length nightie, king sized duvet, two blankets (one of which is 100% wool), memory foam mattress. I should have been roasting, but I was cold to my core. Now at work and feeling a bit ropey. Could this be a diabetes related thing?
FBG - 6.5
BP - 140/90
Ketones - yes
Outdoor temp - 7C

Yes I'm cold too. I put mine down to still not being used to the change in the weather and still getting over the effects of the flu jab a week ago. It may be something to do with diabetes too of course, but I really don't know the answer to that one, sorry.

Hope you feel better soon too, Zand.

Yep done my shopping this morning. Just a few cards to write and a little food to buy and that's it. lol, as you may have guessed.....I don't really 'do' Christmas! The tree will go up[ on Christmas Eve
On a different subject.......why has the word 'administrators' changed from blue to red? I don't like it when you guys change things, it makes me feel uneasy.

LOL! Don't worry-you ain't gonna change into a pumpkin or anything! But in all seriousness,it's just to change the legend colour between moderators and Admin as other forums do as before both groups were in blue.

Good. And I haven't noticed any of my posts going missing, so that's OK then. I'm glad moderators are still blue. I would be scared of them if they were red.

......like the forum colour changes, thanks.
It's firework display in many towns tonight, our neighbours have just had a great one, we enjoyed peering in from the warmth of our living room.
Family members have gone along to an organised display tonight I'm sure they will have a good time.
Keep safe everyone

Re: Check in and Chat - November 2014
Why is it we Brits talk about the weather so much?
Now I could say 'Wasn't it a lovely sunny start to the day today' but in certain areas they wouldn't agree because it was rain - rain - and more rain.
But cheer up next week it will be snowing ! It's heading here from the west apparently - will the forecasters be right? Who knows ...... but are you any good at building snowmen?
All the best Jan

Re: Check in and Chat - November 2014
Snow is terrific for a day, then I hate it! Go out sledging, get cold and wet, then stay in complaining about it, the thing I hate about the snow is, we can't get to work or then to site, we can't move slabs of stone around on the fork truck, my blokes expect the days off because they are stuck on their drives or the buses aren't running, so we can't earn money but the rent and other bills don't seem to mind the snow at all! They seem to come in whatever the weather

Our country doesn't deal with snow very well to be fair. It doesn't take much for our roads to become gridlocked and panic buying in the supermarkets starts !

Re: Check in and Chat - November 2014
I love walking in the snow. I hate driving in it.
In November 3 years ago (?) we had some early snow, not much at all, maybe 1/4 - 1/2 inch. I was in the supermarket paying for my shopping when it started snowing. I attempted to drive the 3 miles home but unfortunately we live in a hilly area and the roads hadn't been gritted because there had been no forecast of snow. I got within a mile of my home and had to turn around because there was a huge line of cars stuck, unable to get round the last bend of the hill. I knew there was only one other road that would be possibly clear by that time. Thankfully I got up the hill OK. Within a quarter of an hour that was road was closed too. My son managed to get home as he worked in the other direction. My husband had to park in the town and walk 2 miles uphill and collect his car in the morning. I could not have done that because I had a heart problem at the time and walking on the flat caused me to become extremely breathless.
So that is why I don't like snow. It doesn't take much to get stranded in it around here, no matter how careful you are.

Re: Check in and Chat - November 2014
Check this out.
"Son used father's dismembered body parts 'as TV stand'
A man killed his 25-stone father, dismembered his corpse and put the body parts in plastic storage boxes he then used as a TV stand, a court has heard.
William Spiller's remains were found at a property in Lacey Court, Stedman Road, Bournemouth, in June 2013.
His son Nathan Robinson, 28, denies murder but admits manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility.
Prosecutors told Winchester Crown Court he killed his father the previous month following an argument over money."
This from the BBC another outfit that has gone down hill. Can anyone tell me what the dead mans weight had to do with the situation? Did being over weight bring his sad demise on himself?

Re: Check in and Chat - November 2014
Rain, Roads and Repairs !
Did it rain where you live, we certainly had a lot but then thankfully the sun came out late morning. Out and about today we had to laugh at a toddler out with her mum having great fun splashing in the puddles, she looked so happy .....certainly put a smile on our faces. Her socks got soaked as well but hey does that matter?
Felt very sorry for all motorists caught up in the M25 road collapse around Surrey ....don't know if it affected any members here?
How's your day been?
All the best Jan
