Re: It's The Insulin, Stupid!
So many diabetics see insulin as a get out of free jail card. Obviously we all need some insulin, but so few realise, including medics, the damage excess plasma insulin does, arguably the biggest killer of the human race.

Re: It's The Insulin, Stupid!
Thanks for the Amy Berger link. And I would add that the carbohydrate-insulin hypothesis fits right in. It explains the etiology of not only diabetes but heart disease, obesity, and many cancers. And it also explains why damage proceeds after a diagnosis of diabetes if both glucose and insulin are not normalized.
It also makes me mad when I read papers like the latest WHO report on the dangers of meat. Not once do they even mention either carbohydrates or insulin as a possible contributor in place of the dangers of meat. Where is the no do harm principle on the part of our opinion leaders? The WHO report will result in even more consumption of carbohydrates making the epidemic of the metabolic disease even worse.
Sigh... The only personal benefit will be a drop in the price of bacon and other meats.
