That was the first record I can recall in the sixties that lasted over three minutes and a great song to boot

I first saw/heard that on Gran's TV. She and my mother were deeply unamused.

More Geordie music
Not many bagpipes in jazz, perhaps there should be
ok not Northumbrian pipes but it's the thought that counts

Re: Some decent tunes !
I watched another movie about the Krays, and Duffy featured as a club singer, someone I hadn't heard for ages
Then I also remembered Dido

So many talented women seem to come and go over the years without achieving what it looked like they could have done.
Meanwhile jazzers seem to carry on until they die.
Can't remember if I put this up before. I saw then way back when they played at Blakey Ridge in the North York Moors. Colin Hodgkinson was one of the first to play the bass guitar as a lead instrument, and also to play chords on it.

Re: Some decent tunes !
Talking of small pianists, one of my all time favourites was the incomparable Don Pullen. Here he is with David Murray
Here with his long time sidekick George Adams, who preceded him into the grave
and with the superb Carlos Ward

Re: Some decent tunes !
OK my favourite music contains pianos, saxophones, female singers and/or ethnic/weirdness.
Here's one that I love that pushes none of those buttons
OK some slight weirdness, friends had a Afghan hound that was even more mentally challenged than they usually are.
Whenever they put that track on, the dog would run into the room, plonk itself down in front of the speakers and howl in time with the music.

Trouble is Chris there's that much to discover on youtube I can spend ages checking out new stuff, to me that is, but given some of the rubbish served up on TV it can be a pleasure just sitting back and enjoying the music

Revisiting the seventies part 37
Music then seemed to be edgier, and less produced and more created. And of course society needed to change and we were going to do it hahahaha
Hippy folk rock on acid
British Blues
sadly only one other track from that album on YouTube
