Re: Some decent tunes !
Sorry to read yesterday that Glen Campbell passed away. I went to one of his London shows ... quite some years ago now but thoroughly enjoyed it. Good memories ...
"Country music legend Glen Campbell, the mellow-voiced "Rhinestone Cowboy" who sold millions of albums over a career that spanned decades, has died at the age of 81.
Campbell, who left his mark on the music, television and movie worlds, died in Nashville, Tennessee, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
"It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and legendary singer and guitarist," his family said in a statement.
Campbell's more than 70 albums sold more than 50 million copies, earning him six Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award, and membership in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Musicians Hall of Fame.
Completed while he was already suffering from the ravages of Alzheimer's, Campbell's final album, "Adios," was released in June."

Re: Some decent tunes !
Everyone else used to have Pink Floyd, the Grateful Dead etc. when I was young, so I bought the stuff they DIDN'T have, like King Crimson and J J Cale. Then some of the musos, especially the jazzers, had the REALLY obscure stuff.
I notice YouTube seems to have been pruned a bit recently.

WOW! Beautiful!
His actual name was Farrell Sanders. Someone mispronounced it introducing him at a club, and he liked it so much he kept it.

Scary isn't it?
If this sounds a bit familiar, Mike Gibbs and Bill Oddie collaborated on the music for The Goodies. Contains a lot of the Great and Good of sixties/seventies British jazz.
He celebrated his eightieth birthday recently

Thirty years on and she has lost her stunning looks and flawless skin (I suspect eating too much wheat) but she still has the voice, and the guitar chops

Yup!
I think it was the "Music Appreciation Society" when I was still at school where someone played the George Harrison double LP.
I can't remember if they played all of it, but I thought while it wan't bad it was overblown and overlong.
Then someone slipped on a single track of John Mayall with Clapton and there was more music in those five minutes than in the previous hour.
