While I'm thanking people, big thanks for all the music here and on the blog. Between you guys and Jools Holland, and YouTube's own suggestions, I've found a bunch of good stuff I never heard of before.

    Oh hang on

    If that wasn't weird enough

    OK something sublime

Try this if you are out on a long drive at night. On repeat on my car sound system.

so I've been doing some reminiscing while waiting for the fish van

She's no Dave Swarbrick but a hell of a lot cuter

    And some South African music

A tribute to Mongezi Feza, who survived South Africa and I believe died of pneumonia which he caught in a mental hospital in London

And Dudu Pukwana, who blows his sax so hard it's a wonder the reed doesn't come flying out

The only good thing about Apartheid is it drove so many great musicians to come to the UK and Europe.

Here's Abdullah Ibrahim who used to be Dollar Brand

Edited to change to a better track

This was on a film recently

I got an instant (CENSORED)  just from listening to her voice.

More great stuff from a dead guy

Back in the day, 40 years ago, I'm pretty sure this was the album version.

He used to come on stage with a huge joint, light up and sit back while glowing bits rained down his shirt, and make this sublimely beautiful music.

In later years he turned to alcohol and fighting. Eventually he got diabetes and lost a leg.

Here's a later version with the magnificent Danny Thompson on bass, his voice was rougher but not his guitar.

Took a while to track it down, the tune was running in my head for a few days, then I finally got enough words to look it up. Forgot her name completely. You'll understand when you get older . . .

. . . I have some others to find, if only there was an app that told you what was he tune you were thinking of.

Couldn't recall this guy's name either but I remembered he described his voice as "like geese farts on a muggy day", that found him
