@zand Hope this one cheers you up - it's a very catchy song to sing to yourself and much more entertaining than the original version:

Tell me this isn't some of the weirdest music you've heard - Ivo Papasov.

I videotaped him decades ago from a WOMAD or Jools Holland programme, or something. Eddie's Duduk music made me think of him, in a very indirect way, and I discovered hordes of his stuff on YouTube.

Now I need a lie down. Have you ANY idea what the time signatures are? And the drummer (Salif Ali) makes Keith Moon sound like Ringo Starr.

You have one hell of a memory Chris. I used to have a musical instrument business. Other than a Church Organ I have owned just about every instrument under the sun. I have played many, all extremely poorly. I fancied playing the Duduk and lashed out on the most expensive one I could find, what a waste time and money. It very near croaked me trying to play it, by jingo you need one hell of a set of lungs to play that bugger. A fantastic track featuring one of the best voices I have ever heard. BTW Graham had a bit part as an extra playing the Shepard.

Yes the traditional Shepherd cannot handle the special breed of Fierce Armenian Fighting Sheep Twisted Evil Hence the need to employ a Shepard Very Happy

BTW  Eddie had a bit part too as the old woman and he did not require any makeup. well he is a bit of an old woman anyway  Rolling Eyes

Not that good a memory, it was on your blog earlier. Yes she has an amazingly pure voice, the Bulgarian singers have much more dissonance.

Here's Iqbrama again with a different accordion player, when they were much younger

quieter and more folksy but still those strange Islamic sounding scales and bizarre rhythms

This is our blog's resident troll's signature tune Laughing

Baby, although I chose this lonely life
It seems it's strangling me now
All the wild men, big cigars, gigantic cars
They're all laughing at me now
    Oh I've been used
I've been taken for a fool, oh what a fool
    I broke all the rules
But I won't let the show go on
Baby look there's an enormous crowd of people
And they're all after my blood
I wish maybe they'd tear down the walls
Of this theatre and let me out, let me out
    Oh I've been so blind
    I've wasted time
Wasted, wasted, oh so much time

Check this out, a fantastic sound track by ABBA but an unusual twist. I know lads, we have all thought we had scored, but how wrong could we be. A great video well worth a watch.

I found some more Isabel Bayrakdarian on YouTube, in fact a LOT more.

Talking of stunning women with amazing voices, I had Sandy Denny and Matty Groves replaying inside my head earlier, here it is for real

"Nothing wrong with a bit of 'Reckless' from time to time..."

When I was young I was reckless on many occasions. Now reckless is a battered cod and a half portion of chips once a month at my favourite fish and chip shop on the South Coast. I sometimes say to Jan, how sad are we, when these days a small bag of crisps between the two of us is now decadent behaviour. affraid

I'm sooooooo upset and disappointed. I had tickets to see Nickelback in November, but they've cancelled the rest of their tour to give Chad Kroeger's voice a rest. Sad Shocked Crying or Very sad

    WOW!

I've been ploughing though a whole bunch of stuff from Nightmusic on YouTube and realising most of the musicians I love are now dead.

It's an age thing Chris, it's the same with many of the musicians and singers that I grew up have passed on, sad but an inevitable fact of life Sad

    True Crying or Very sad

I remember watching the last Pink Floyd live concert where they reunited and thinking "who are these fat old guys and why are they playing Pink Floyd songs?" Now they're falling off the twig.
