New Start To Training Empty New Start To Training

Post by Mud Island Dweller Sun Oct 19 2014, 11:41

I decided that l could now start running as my ankle is lots better and physio has cleared me for light exercise so long as ankle isnt hurting.
Hub is following the Inov8 transition formula for his talons (they are minimalist shoes a 6mm sole) so first 5min run today. (2x 5min a week for 4 weeks) he loved the shoes and can not wait for the road ones so he can dump his stinky nikes

I loved the fact A) l didn't bend over gasping for air in the first minute and then fast give up and walk B) my ankle isn't sore l have been really worried about that C) l loved the run through the woods.

A small but important psychological start for me and by the time l get to when ever my next race is (overseas holiday soon which messes planning) l know l can run it as opposed to walk it

Also l got some compression tights they are great my knees already feel better l am wearing them almost full time, they were not cheap but worth every penny.

For once l am feeling positive over running and for me that is a huge shock Smile

Running is a great exercise, it's free and hugely beneficial. Great surroundings, such as woods or fields make it even more enjoyable. I'm certainly no physio and I'm sure you know what you're doing but just listen to your body. Build the distances up slowly and if you get any niggles, stop. Good to read you're back to regular exercise again though. Take care, Mo

I know so many people do enjoy running and find it an excellent way to keep fit. It's not an exercise 'regime' I've ever followed. Although through my years I have enjoyed netball, hockey, tennis, swimming, dance ......and now walking. There is something good about being outdoors.

Whatever your fitness levels it's good to do your best to keep as fit and healthy as possible.

The 'Spartan or Warrior' Races or whatever they are called I will leave to others who I know enjoy them.

By the way MID ....in the end did your order arrive safe and sound and properly sorted ?

    Cheers and

    All the best Jan

Wouldn't it be great if when you met up with Andy, a car door opened and a funny dog ran up to you with wonky paws lol !

    lmao!!

the last time i met with forum folks "Bebo and team BG and Borofergie" i suggested race to the finish line cos me and Bebo was running chatting (she was chatting i was puffing and panting) so we sprinted to the finish only to be told we had another lap lol looked like nutters for sure, so the last lap was at best a struggle lol it was very funny

Bebo and team BG and Borofergie are really terrific people btw Smile

+1000 Great folks and I wish Borofergie was here on this forum too...A very knowledgeable diabetic with a great sense of humour who taught many folks including myself a LOT about low carbing and the ketogenic diet and his comic timing in threads was excellent! Very Happy

Wow ! What was he pumping ? Gatorade lol !! Seriously though, I'd have thought the problem would be going too low unless he overcompensated ?

Oh right, I guess he knew what he was doing. Going back to pumps though, they're still manual and will deliver as much, or as little insulin as you tell it. Maybe the adrenaline and the occasion pushed levels up temporarily.
