Sure she'll come up with a scientific paper to negate the good news as usual :-)

Re: Should People be Eating More Fat ?
45 minutes into the program and I am thinking what a complete waste of time. All I have heard is maybe, could be, possibly etc etc. In other words not a single hard fact stated, all sit on the fence stuff. Trust me I am a Doctor I heard, why. Doctors have a suicide rate well above the average, an alcoholism rate way above the average and a high drug addiction rate.
The info on resistant starch has been known for years, but they claimed to have discovered new information. Did anyone notice the difference in BG numbers for non diabetics was around 1 mmol, hardly mind blowing stuff, although I notice the Cherub et al have been flogging RS pasta on the forum of flog for the last couple of days. How about the mind blowing revelation that a bad wound with heavy bleeding could lead to death, who would have thought that. In short my time would have been better spent down the pub. Complete bollocks I reckon. What say you folks ?

Re: Should People be Eating More Fat ?
I got bored. The presenter said at the end he would happily eat butter but not pour cream down his throat, but not because of the fat but the calories. I bet that last bit will be conveniently forgotten, or used to misadvise.

I see your point Rod, perish the thought we would want to consume those dastardly calories. A program dumbed down so that a lobotomised chimp could get the message, but what was the message, none that I could see.

I've only used three of your words but I got bored too!
I guess it is hard to cover so many subjects in an hour and give good results.
Much better we take our time ....use our computers, read various papers etc that are available. The for's and against, who is the money behind the papers etc So much to take in and digest no wonder people are confused.
It is still up to each individual to make their choice. For me I will stick with my LCHF lifestyle. I will stay clear of foods that are high in Sugars and Carbs.
I will eat butter, I will use cream, don't think I'll bother with resistant starch but will enjoy the sunshine whenever I can.
Oh help I'm going to put the kettle on .....now that is not confusing.
All the best Jan

On the theme of sat fat here's another casting doubt on the guidelines.

Re: Should People be Eating More Fat ?
Bit of an anti climax really. The only interesting thing was the reheating of pasta lowered BG levels by 50%.

The BG charts shown on the program showed a BG reduction of approx 1mmol in non diabetics. These people have a primary insulin response, most of us lack that facility. Our numbers for non insulin users would have gone way higher and stayed way higher for much longer. In my opinion RS is like low GI a complete crock for people living in the real world. I do appreciate the fantasy artists claim al-sorts of wondrous qualities for these two methods.

Are you pulling my plonker ? what a bunch of dullards, I would not trust one of them to clean my motor. Another BBC program well past it's sell by date. And as for that poison dwarf Sugar, just his name raises my BP, all sugar should be banned.

Re: Should People be Eating More Fat ?
Back on the resistant starch hocus pocus I saw this comment elsewhere today and thought the member hit the nail on the head.
"I like the theory, but I'm not expecting it to be anything more than a small improvement.
And a small improvement on a big spike isn't going to do it for me."
For me it's like the old portion control malarkey, we can all eat anything in minuscule amounts, "17 grams of cornflakes and a splash of semi-skimmed milk" won't keep me going for 6 to 8 hours. Don't start me off on the biggest hoax of the lot low GI.
