Not so much if you look here

Vegan and vegetarian options but not a low carb one. Plus the mandatory warning about meat of course.

Only a dietician could think of meat as toxic waste while marketing toxic waste as "heart healthy". I suspect meat probably is toxic when you eat it WITH the bun and the fries and the Big Gulp. But then they are probably toxic without the meat . . .

. . .here comes Duane Mellor, where the hell is Chris Cashin???

. . . I already had some baked salmon with samphire, now I think I'll polish off a pheasant breast stir-fry.

Oh, before I go here's the ADA from over ten years ago.

The tides been turning for a while and it's gathering momentum, the only answer these dietitians have is to make personal attacks on the likes of Malhotra

Meanwhile the BDA has a lovely photo of our award winners from our event last night –

New guideline from NICE. If you weigh 50lbs less than the average dietitian you haven't got a weight problem. affraid

When you need a wide angle lens for a portrait there's a problem.

Yes it's amazing the contrast between the sensible doctors and researchers who post Actual Science, and the dieticians and other doctors who sneer, smirk and exchange self-congratulatory tweets with no discernible content. And who call for bans on research into things they don't approve of, like the effects of insulin, and ketogenic diets in cancer.

Dietitians whilst making derogatory remarks about Dr Aseem Malhotra have two heroes Rolling Eyes in the foul mouthed angry chef and the big tobacco shill and member of the IEA Christopher Snowden

Scary how they don't even notice the appalling results they obtain not only with their patients but with themselves. But then I suppose they are paid not to. Darwin Award material, most of them - with a few honourable exceptions, a number which is gradually increasing.

ps I did an excellent typo the other day - unformation, which I think should be a real word

Let's face it dietetic associations are on the defensive after being exposed on their failed dietary guidelines, hence their feeble attempts to smear any other HCP that thinks outside the box, smacks of desperation  Sad

The problem is. this is only occurring on Twitter, the Blogosphere and elsewhere online. Try to find anything about the Noakes Trial or Gary Fettke in the Guardian or on the BBC. I can wait.

Maybe the Daily Mail, which has hysterical articles on every latest diet scare, while most of the rest of The Meeja only post stuff that backs up the Status Quo. Well I suppose they don't want to lose their advertising revenue. And if the Guardian didn't champion veganism they'd lose their reader.

What I find most interesting, yet scary, is that the vegans and Big Food have joined forces. Together they have the dogma and the financial clout to enforce permanent changes on all our diets, and not for the better. Just recently I've read that both Johanna Konta and Venus Williams are vegans. Like so much they post it's not true.

The Guardian has an article on Coconut oil by a BDA dietitian  Rolling Eyes

In the long-established pecking order of fats laid down over many years by public health officials, trans fats are classed as the least healthy. The chemical transformation makes them hard for our bodies to process. They raise levels of bad (LDL) cholesterol and lower good (HDL) cholesterol, increasing the risk of developing heart disease and strokes; they are also linked to type 2 diabetes. In contrast, unsaturated fats are pretty universally accepted as beneficial because they raise levels of good HDL cholesterol. That leaves saturated fats somewhere in the middle.

Good grief, she got something nearly right! Well the trans fats bit anyway.

"Since the 1970s, the message from public health bodies has been that they raise bad cholesterol, fur up arteries and increase the risk of strokes, heart disease and heart attacks. That’s the view of the UK government, the World Health Organisation and virtually every other public health body in the world."

Oh yeah like that's working SO well, isn't it?

They fail to comprehend the major differences between Omega 3s which we generally need more of, and Omega 6s which we usually overdose on, and how the balance destabilises the immune/inflammation response. Also that they are both essential but in small quantities and chemically unstable so they don't do well when heated, unlike saturated fats and to a lesser extent monounsaturates which are more chemically stable. Oh and the bit where cholesterol isn't actually the cause of heart disease.

Pah, I'm off to read some Real Science from Kendrick and Cummins, see you later!

Yes the dangers of industrial trans fats were well known to the likes of Mary Enig and Fred  Kummerow, in the 70s but the demonisation of sat fats was as today still the main focus

And under the radar the effects of un-transified Omega 6s are starting to be noticed and researched.

Wonder how long before the miracle replacements for trans fats - interesterified fats - will be dsicovered to have some bad consequences. Round about the time a replacement for them is manufactured I suspect, that's why it took so long for the facts about trans fats to be accepted, they had to develop a vegan replacement first.

I had a panic attack when this paper literally disappeared between my flipping to pdf to download it and flipping back again, I though the dieticians had had it withdrawn already but fortunately it was only moved in a site reorganisation

Chris Cash In didn't attack a vegan comment that diabetes is caused by eating meat, no surprise there then. But I WAS surprised that Collins took a dislike to the recent vegan movie, and even linked to this

I would have thought most dieticians would have loved it to death especially Plant-Based Pixie

obvious dissent in the ranks then, some great stuff there from some old books on diabetes diets
