How about a Glass of Wine? D12-big-wine-glass-10005518

"Wine is as close to a perfect wheat, grain, and gluten-free beverage as it gets, regardless of varietal or vintage. If you consider the probable health effects that can be derived from light wine drinking (no more than two 4-ounce glasses per day), wine is proving to be both pleasurable and healthy."

    Not my words ...

They come from this post here

Sshhh ... don't tell anyone but we do have a few extra bottles of wine in our rack - ready for Christmas santa

Talking about wine and other Christmas drinks - years ago wine didn't seem to feature as much, it was babycham, advocat, sherry and of course beer or shandy.
We used to have water on the dining table and drinks were for after the meal ... times seem to have changed a little Smile

My father always bought a bottle of Spanish Sauterne, It's now illegal to call it that if it doesn't come from France so I don't know what it's called nowadays.

I happened to see this thread … last post dated December 2016 Smile

Now it just so happens, I have poured a nice glass of wine to go with our chicken meal tonight.

Chicken breast wrapped in some prosciutto with melted cheese and a vegetable bake.

Cheers, and happy low carb eating!

I'm down to my last pheasant breast so maybe I'll join you on the chicken this week. Also I suspect a rump steak, lamb chops and Gloucester Old Spot sausages. Speciesist, me?

I have a selection of Carmenere, Malbec and Merlot to help wash them down.

Chris said "I have a selection of Carmenere, Malbec and Merlot to help wash them down."

Does sound a very good selection Chris …

Must admit I'm more of a white wine drinker, although Eddie did enjoy a glass of Malbec the other night.

In our local Tesco store earlier in the week and they had stacks of beer and lager for sale …
Went in earlier today and the stacks had reduced somewhat, I think a certain football team and tournament may have something to do with it ...!

I admit, I'm a pleb, I like red wine so much I even have it with fish. I remember I used to be fond of Muscatel but that would be far too carby for me nowadays. Once when I was tripping I drank a whole bottle because I decided it was the nectar of the gods. You can only do that sort of stuff when you're young.

My current favourites are mostly Chilean or Argentinian - excellent value for money, but I currently have a bottle of Chateau Brassac. Some years back it was so good I was stocking up on it but later years weren't quite so exceptional.
