The British Dietetic Association’s (BDA’s) mission is to’ promote health and well-being amongst the population through the science and practice of dietetics’. Part of being able to do this effectively is that dietitians are aware of the products and messages the public are being offered and hearing/seeing so that they can give best practice advice and guidance about appropriate, healthy food choices and eating habits (specifically for that individual or group and their nutrition environment).
As part of delivering the BDA’s strategy and vision, the external affairs team regularly engages with a variety of stakeholders, including the nutrition team at Coca-Cola Great Britain (CCGB) which runs Thirst for Knowledge (TfK), an educational initiative designed to better support the needs of healthcare professionals and patients. In order to share information and hear dietitians’ views on the role of low calorie sweeteners in weight management, CCGB’s calorie reduction work and its physical activity programmes – TfK has booked a stand in the industry showcase exhibition at this year’s annual BDA conference, BDA Live. A fringe meeting is also being offered by TfK which will include an academic speaker to provide an external view.
