    The Basics

    What?

The Public Health Collaboration will be a charity focused on supporting research and investigating pressing public health issues concerning the UK.  On a quarterly basis we will publicly publish reports on these issues alongside coordinated campaigns for change.

    Why?

In the UK 25% of adults are obese, the highest prevalence in Europe, and type 2 diabetes has risen by 65% in the past 10 years with no sign of slowing down, both cost the NHS £16 billion a year. The PHC will illuminate the solutions to turn it all around.
    How?

Through INDIEGOGO we need to initially raise £5,000 to help set us up as a charity, fund our team to write our first report to be published in April, as well as support our ambitious research and campaign plans to empower the public and medical community.

The group of doctors include deputy chair of the British Medical Association Dr. Kailash Chand OBE, dietitian Dr. Trudi Deakin, cardiologist Dr. Aseem Malhotra, psychiatrist Dr. Tamsin Lewis, general practitioner Dr. Rangan Chatterjee, clinical psychologist Dr. Jen Unwin, diabetologist Dr. David Cavan, general practitioner Dr. Katharine Morrison, general practitioner Dr. David Unwin, general practitioner Dr. Joanne McCormack, general practitioner Dr. Ian Lake and general practitioner Dr. Ayan Panja.

Our old friend the dietitian ally5555 is having a moan about the above on twitter

Give 'em a chance Andy. One thing for sure, it's all grist to the low carb mill. Talking of grist or rather gristle, I see that old warrior Cashin is making a fool of herself again.facepalm Not hard to see why most dietitians are ranked lower than estate agents and dodgy second hand car dealers these days.

The donations are for an administrator Sam Feltham (good guy staunch low carber) who will work full time for minimum wage and admin costs. All the Doctors are working for free.

Being healthcare professionals I expect they will have to go slowly slowly catchy monkey. I very much doubt they will be as subtle and gently persuasive like me. mrgreen

I reckon she should keep to tweeting about dogs, she appears to know something about our canine friends. I hope for the dogs sake she knows more about a healthy diet for them. than she does for a diabetic. facepalm

In a way I feel sorry for the average dietitian, imagine having a job where everywhere you go, week by week you see the signs of your total failure all around you, and getting worse. People getting fatter, sicker and you have nothing to offer than a diet of slow death, when all you have to do is get people to eat whole fresh foods from the farm and the sea. But no they push factory produced junk 24/7. Look how orgasmic the BDA was over the Belvita biscuit breakfast, complete junk.

This looks like a whole bunch of sensible people gathered in one place, unlike most other committees, and NOT backed by industry like Cash In and her cronies, no wonder they are on the attack.

And of course one of the sensible people is Dr Katharine and she used to wipe the floor with ally  Laughing

Ally did have this to say about the collaboration;  "interesting as none of them in this new venture have declared any CIO" As we well know many of the BDA dietitians have lots of conflicts of interest many of them with junk food companies. Evil or Very Mad

That's different! It's a well known fact (ie. not true) that all low carb doctors are funded by the beef and egg industry and the Weston A Price Foundation is funded by Big Agriculture.

Dieticians are purely invested in the health of their patients and are hardly paid by the grain and margarine industry at all.

Now about this bridge I have for sale . . .
