eye opening to a lot of people i think . family were quite amazed at sugar amounts in the food and drink shown . i am glad i cut out fizzy drinks and added sugar to my tea and coffee . need to always check labels .

Nothing new to any of us, but what a nail in the coffin of sugar. One food item shown had 32 grams of sugar per 100 grams, and it surprised the people talking. I noticed above the sugar count it said 72 grams of carb. Pity it was not pointed out carbs = sugar. All in all a very good program I reckon and very well presented by Fiona Phillips.

We were saying the same thing about carbs. But maybe it's enough to cut out extra sugar if you are not diabetic?
It's excellent that it is making people think.

It's a start Mrs. Vimes increasingly sugar is being seen in the same light as tobacco. Our generation are in trouble, but hopefully the kids around now will not suffer and their parents will shield them and warn them of the dangers of a high sugar diet. When people get the message about sugar, the highly refined carb debate will really take hold, and not just for diabetics.

No doubt like most of us the gut reaction was 'what about the carbs'? But then I thought this is for the general population not diabetics, let's take one step at a time and deal with sugar, something readily understood by virtually everyone, and deal with carbs later. It was a good start.

I notice next week is about calories. I wonder if carbs will get a mention then, or will it be just about poor labelling and exercise?

In the seven years I have been fighting for the cause I have seen massive changes. Fats from natural sources have been proved to be safe. Sugar is now seen as a health hazard. People with high profile and status such as Trudi Deakin, Prof. Tim Noakes, Prof. Robert Lustig, Dr Jay Wortman and many others are fighting alongside us. In the US some Dietitians are sick of the corruption and formed Dietitians for Integrity. The future is bright, the future is whole fresh food and less junk.
