    I've only had a quick look at the PDF in the T2 consultation, still the same re SMBG (Do not routinely offer self-monitoring of blood glucose levels for adults with type 2 diabetes)

    WTF T2 target 7% with a 7.5% take action  [but we'll wait till 8% and see how you go with my exercise and lose weight mantra]

    first normal metformin, or Repaglinide [pancreas hammer] just what an insulin resistant T2 needs as a first choice, more insulin and flog the pancreas http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Repaglinide

    then metformin with pioglitazone [it must be cheap or someone is on the board...not my second choice as it is banned in some countries] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pioglitazone

    I gave up reading after that freakout

    No doubt many of the Guideline Development Group for diabetes will have conflicts of interest just like the Statins group were 8 out of 12 members had links to Big Pharma
