Re: Some decent tunes !
Hi Paul
I don't know about rocking the Casbah, but I can think of a few I would like to rock, then again, without them this forum may never have started. We may only ever remain small, but we will be a very useful resource for the open minded, and those that wish to control their weight and health, with the foods man has ate since the beginning of time.
For so many type two diabetics, drugs should be the last resort, sadly so often it's the first, so often they fail. Every day I am hearing of medical professionals that have see the light. The time is now, the time is low carb !
Kind regards Eddie

This one for my wife Jan. I love this song, out of context, but you know what I mean.

Re: Some decent tunes !
I seem to be (re)listening to a lot of 80s stuff at the moment. There was a lot of rubbish but also a lot of gems. Propaganda - art-house tosh or inventive Euro-pop? Don't know, but this Trevor Horn production is best played loud in a darkened room. The accompanying video is nothing to do with them.

Re: Some decent tunes !
For some reason the lyrics of this song came back to me this morning while watching the ospreys. Was surprised to find an old clip on Youtube of it:
Hadn't thought of the song in years, but now I'm having a Judy Henske fest on Youtube

Glad you enjoyedsanguine wrote:Another new discovery for me Indy, interesting CV and great voice
She sure has a big voice alrighty. And the lyrics to "Empty Bed Blues" have to be right up there in the suggestive stakes
I'm also having a big awakening listening to both of Sixto Rodriguez's albums. I don't recall him at the time (even though he apparently did pretty well in Oz compared to the US), but recently watched the documentary "Searching for Sugarman" and wow, what a talent! And an incredible story. Wonder if the royalties issues will ever be worked out?

Love this song but only really when combined with the video. Very psychedelic ( hope I spelled that right ) ! Enjoy :-)

Re: Some decent tunes !
Julie Tippetts (nee Driscoll) is known to most people solely for 1968's 'Wheels on Fire' (reprised as the theme song for 'Absolutely Fabulous'). But for over 40 years she has been a stalwart of the UK jazz scene, often collaborating with her husband the avant-garde pianist Keith Tippett. Difficult to categorise this song from 1975, so don't try!

Re: Some decent tunes !
They were banging out the hits before I was born but I love the Beach Boys and this is just one of my favourites...
I always wondered if the song writer was diabetic because of the lyric in this tune..."She's got a competition clutch with the four on the floor..." Sort of sounds like the whole "Four is the floor" saying I've heard on diabetic forums in the past...OK my sense of humour is rubbish folks but it's a good track...Enjoy!

Re: Some decent tunes !
I was around in those great days, when the Beach Boys were the big new sound from California. Dancing with fresh young girls in white shoes and white dresses with polka dots and loads of petticoats. If you were lucky you got a kiss and a cuddle before their dads picked them up at the end of the dance. Great days. This was a favourite track.
Don't start me off re four is the floor.
