Hello! Can I Join You? Empty Hello! Can I Join You?

Post by Karen Fri Oct 31 2014, 21:24

Hi, I'm Karen, Type 2 diagnosed a few years now, followed all usual advice - frustrated with effects so threw all toys out of the pram and went my own way. Bad idea! Came back to the diabetic fold but still disillusioned with results and increased meds. Last straw was going onto Gliclazide with little drop in BG numbers but increased weight - do not need that! Now on Januvia and Metformin Sad
So, I've been looking for a better way of living with Diabetes, where I'm in charge, not 'them'. Reading a lot about LCHF, and have found this forum. Been lurking for a while but I know I need a bit of support especially in these early days, could do with a buddy or 10  Smile

Hi Karen and welcome to the forum yup join in how can we help you just shout and someone will have a good idea. LCHF is the only real way to lower your numbers although takes time to get your hear around the idea.

A BIG welcome to the forum Karen! Smile We've all pretty much been there with very poor and outdated advice that recommends not to test our blood sugar levels, avoid saturated animal fats and base all of your meals around starchy carbs which is a disaster for diabetics of any type IMO so welcome aboard and well done for wanting to take control of your diabetes and not be ruled by a 'One size fits all' scenario as seen with the NHS and Diabetes.org charities advice.

    Best wishes

Hi Karen. Welcome to the madhouse. I think we all got mugged by the standard Government and dietary advice. But its very liberating when you finally join the dots, break the chains and break free.

It's very liberating to take back responsibility for your own health - after all, no one cares more or has more of a vested interest than you do! Smile

That's a good start Karen just be careful with the medications you will need to adjust them slowly to match your lower carb intake.
