Yes, i've noticed that too. For example, I usually have about 40g carbs max at my evening meal. If I spend those 40g on non starchy veggies or carrots, my blood sugar is fine before bed and also ok in the morning. If I spend them on bread (even brown bread) or something sugary my blood sugar peaks quickly and reduces quickly. If I spend them on something sugary and fatty (like cake for example) my bood sugar will rise quickly and stay higher even the next morning. If I spend them on something starchy/sugary and protein and fat rich, it takes a long time to rise, but will be very high the next morning. So, I've learnt a lot about that already Smile

I have no idea how a type 1 would do it these days. Bolus amount depending on how much carb? Maybe a T1 will answer that at some point.

I guess the GI value comes into play here too ? So, it's not only the total carbs, it's how quickly they are broken down and adsorbed by the body. If I eat anything high GI, I have to inject 10-15mins prior to eating.

I'd say so too, that's pretty much where I was heading with my examples...I'm just rubbish at explaining things LOL

I've been wondering about food intolerances.

I'm better on potato than wheat (a lot of us are).

I think if most diabetics did just one thing to help themselves, it would be quitting wheat. I get really depressed reading posts where people list heaps of autoimmune diseases and the drugs involved, but are still chowing down on their bread that they couldn't possibly give up. I consider wheat to be the devil's food  Evil or Very Mad
