Study found risk similar to newer T2D agents, yet higher than older agents

"Until more data are available, the results of CANVAS provide the greatest evidence that canagliflozin is associated with an increased risk of amputation and should influence our prescribing accordingly," Fralick's group recommended.

They work by making you piss glucose. Here's a clue, don't eat the carbs and then you won't need them. Or the amputations. Or the kidney disease which ISTR they are also associated with.

They are been promoted as the best invention since the wheel. In the USA they want every diabetic to be on them. Supposed benefit on CVD. How many kidneys they will destroy?

The SGLT-2 idea came from a plant that people thought it caused diabetes, since it produced sweet urine. The way diabetes was diagnosed in the beginning. They isolated from the plant what caused the kidneys to increase the glucose in the kidneys and produced it in the lab.

There about 5 or 6 medications in this class. The cardiovascular benefit are mostly because they reduce the glucose in blood modestly. They are always add on to others medications since they alone don't do enough to control blood glucose.

Medical establishment is very reluctant to admit that blood glucose control helps with CVD. Because it will be accepting that there approach to treat diabetes is all wrong. So they come with the supposed benefit of this class of drugs to keep pushing for more drugs.

Yes and they are even less willing to relate hyperinsulinemia to CVD. The only benefit of these drugs I can see is that they don't jack up insulin.
