    Studies show that synthetic, genetically modified insulin could be to blame for a number of complications in diabetes patients.

    I can remember going way back that Lantus caused more problems than any other insulin. Levemir seems to be generally more acceptable, and some people went on (or back) to Beef-L which I believe has now been taken off the market despite Wockhardt's best efforts.

    Actually I lied, NPH got the reputation of being one of the worst and least controllable insulins, Lantus was second to that.
