Dieticians may prefer to look away.

Note I have so many links and tabs open that I can't remember where I got them all from, if they already came from here I apologise

The low carb antis on usenet used to claim that Michael Eades was not a real doctor and had published no research. Here is is with his wife Mary Dan and Loren Cordain - and check the date! This review paper makes a LOT of links which are just as valid today, yet The Authorities are still saying no-one must write about ketogenic diets for cancer, let alone research them.

Some Real Science about saturated fats

    compared to the bollocks

More bollocks - I could be wrong bu I don't see carbs mentioned once

    on the other hand

Oh I screwed up there, I posted the same paper twice an now I can't be arsed to go back and find the other one.

    Never mind, I have more!

Dietary Fats and Cardiovascular Disease: A Presidential Advisory From the American Heart Association

some of the replies are hysterical, and still rolling in, proving that at least some doctors are gaining Clue despite this reprocessing of dogma

More dogma from the rest of the Usual Suspects

    http://www.onlinejacc.org/content/accj/69/9/1172.full.pdf

    and yet

Association between fasting insulin and high-sensitivity C reactive protein in Korean adults

    http://bmjopensem.bmj.com/content/3/1/e000236

"Results The mean hs-CRP in our sample was 1.22 mg/L. hs-CRP was positively associated with fasting insulin level. The occurrence of high-risk hs-CRP with increasing fasting insulin levels was 7.6%, 9.8%, 19.1% and 28.2%, respectively. In comparing high-risk hs-CRP between the highest (>15 µIU/mL) and lowest (<5 µIU/mL) insulin groups, the OR (95% CI) was 4.59 (2.77–7.58). triglycerides/high-density lipoprotein ratio was also associated with hs-CRP. Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol was not associated with hs-CRP.

Conclusions Higher level of fasting insulin is positively associated with high-risk hs-CRP."

4.59 is HUGE compared to things which get into the headlines, at 1.2 - 1.3.

Despite the dieticians' horrified responses to the use of ketogenic diets in cancer Gene Fine gets some large donations to enable actual research
