Valentine's day is near! Empty Valentine's day is near!

    Post by thinestever82 Thu Jan 28 2016, 23:15

    Hello to all!

Since Valentine's day is near I was wondering this year to go to the restaurant with my husband but since I am doing the LCHF diet, I was wondering, which restaurant would be best? The Chinese one maybe by avoiding rice things and classic soy sauce (The Tamari is best) so it can work. Do you have any other specific restaurant that would work?

Thank you in advance for all the ideas!

    Indian! thumb-up

If you go for dishes like madras,Bhuna,Jalfrezi and avoid dishes like Tikka masala,Korma, passanda which are quite sweet, and bulk out the meal with tandoori starters like lamb shikh kebabs, tandoori chicken with salad and mushroom or cauliflower bhaji's and obviously avoid the breads and rice then you should be fine (Subject to testing your bloods to see if that applies to you of course)

    Regards

Tricky seeing your in a different country, when I visited the former Yugoslavia we had no problems finding restaurants that served excellent steaks and other meat based dishes could be an option rather than a Chinese and maybe that would meet the requirements of both you and hubby

Thanks for ideas! The fact is that we always go out for dishes that we usually don't have at home. Besides, we live very near the italy's frontier (my hubby is Italian) and we usually go out in that area. We both love Chinese so that would not be a problem. I have never eaten Indian and have no idea about it looks like either. I am on a very vigorous diet so I would avoid anything that is ever nearly containing sugar and starch and without knowing anything about Indian, it could be difficult but I always wanted to try! You should probably give me some lessons about it Laughing

If there are any Brazilian restaurants near you, they make a great choice. The ones I have been to are a veritable meat fest. The waiters come to your table every 10mins or so with various cuts of meat/sausage. They cut off what you want or you can decline and wait for the next waiter. They give you a green & red sign. If you want a dish, you display green, if not, red.
This is the one I've been to and it's fantastic. I went to the Manchester branch.

Chinese might work if you mix and match several dishes between you.

Last year the girls in the greengrocers were having a Valentines card contest. A day late and a dollar short, I thought

    "Tomatoes are red

    Cabbages are green

    You're the cutest grocers

    That I have ever seen"

but since they're young enough to be my granddaughters, perhaps I shan't bother

    (I don't think they are)

Continuing a Chinese Theme ...  with it being Chinese New Year on the 8th Feb ... perhaps a Chinese themed Valentine's Day could work ???

... End of Chinese theme because ... I will probably serve this. But Shhh don't tell Eddie, it will spoil the surprise LOL!
