How many times have you heard or uttered the phrase "health & safety gone mad" ? I know I have. I still do think they sometimes go too far and try to eliminate danger when there is really none present but when you see or hear about the explosion in China, you realise how important our Health & Safety Legislation is. This would never happen in the UK. That's not saying we are immune from major incidents, we're not. We've had our fair share of major fire, explosions, accidents etc. The difference is, we learn and act on them. There is no way that our Fire Service here would have no knowledge what was being stored in those warehouses. It seems that some innocent firefighters were applying water to the fire which, when mixed with chemicals present, created an explosive atmosphere. Link to story here:
