Forgive me if you've seen these before but I've just found them (whilst googling for information on the Somogyi Effect).

These are rather brilliant; short 10 minute sessions on low-carbing and the Bernstein approach by the good doctor himself.

Here's one on the ever popular ideal blood sugar level.

Thanks Dillinger, I've never seen these before either ( 10mins is my ideal attention span though lol ) ! The guy makes total sense and most of us have heard stories of diabetics being "encouraged" to run their levels higher than what would be considered normal. I've been told twice my HbA1C was too low for example as "I must be experiencing regular hypo's" ! No, I don't. The medical profession ( and DVLA ) seem obsessed with hypo's but very little mention of high levels. Personally, if my levels run high ( rarely ), I feel awful, lethargic and blurred vision. Yes it's still my responsibility to risk assess my ability to drive but couldn't the same be said for low numbers ? Does anyone else suffer similar symptoms when high and would you feel comfortable driving ?

I did think it was odd how all the BG meter sales reps were recording levels of 83 though. I though there was more variability in muggles ?

I know about the 83 Mo; it does seem a very tight target. That's 4.6 in British pounds. But I guess a target is a target though.

On my blood sugar meter my target is set at 5.6 which is an HbA1c of 5.1 in old money; that is nowhere near anywhere I've got though so I'm not sure what good it would do to aim for even tougher target...

Anyway it's good to be able to listen to him; I like how no nonsense he is. "So and so said this; they are WRONG." I wonder how many of his Type 1 patients maintain his targeted 4.2 - 4.6 HbA1c though?

I see that Eddie had posted a link to these before so I should have checked a bit more; but the more avenues to Bernstein the better I reckon.

Totally agree. A target is only of any use if it's achievable and realistic. I've been quite fortunate in that my last 2 HbA1C's have been 51 and 53 respectively so I'm not far off but I doubt I could get any lower. He does talk sense though and is easy to listen too.
