Isn't that for the non-contactless paying method? They've got you by carrying a mobile phone anyway.
If they track me
"Subject number 53, Middle aged hippy, day 30056 same routine: gym, work, home. Shopping - veg, meat, cheese, cream and tonnes of sugar free jelly. Mainly orange.
Internet contacts - the diabetes rebels "LCHF".
Mottos
Fat, fat and more fat.
Fat doesn't make you fat!
Almond flour and avocados free on the NHS!"
I don't like the fact that I pay on card and there is immediately a record of what you buy. Based on that they assume so much about you.

This is all part of the big brother surveillance of honest law abiding people. Yet the security services can't keep an eye on a few deluded school girls leaving the country.

That's an excellent point actually. But didn't you know that it's all the teacher's fault?
It's like the cctv. Apparently we we the most filmed society in Europe.

Too right, most of 'em are Trotskyite fifth columnists, no wonder the countries gone to the dogs.
Coat already on and half way out the door!

Lol, I've never been described as a Trotskyist. Lots of swear words and the like.
I'm a working class upstart who never knew her place.
There are actually people watching. Our school has had a number of calls from the local coppers to give us heads up about our kiddies behaviour.

I don't know whether to say that's good or bad or in-between ........ however, it is fact.

Proud to know you, I am old enough to remember people being proud of being working class, these days everyone thinks their own front door elevates them to the landed gentry. Look how many have double barrelled names now.

Did you know this ??
My son lost his mobile phone on a night out. He did not have a tracker app for it. He borrowed his Dad's phone and googled "how can I find my phone without a tracker app?" He found a way, we travelled 30 miles back to where he had been and rang it and found it. Very useful, but very chilling too. Anyone could track anyone.

I've also got one of those debit cards that have the ability for contactless payments. Scary stuff. Would never use it, don't trust it. Must be ripe for someone to be able to clone it soon ?
As for mobile phones, many of the apps that you can download have built in location trackers.
Good point raised by Eddie though, all this tracking and 3 young schoolgirls go missing without trace . I thought it was the fault of the police ;-)
Can't be the parents or the kids themselves can it surely !!

Sorry Zand but all mobiles can be tracked even if not used, just turned on. The Police can get info re. mobile phones and there whereabouts any time or place. I don't care what the Police know about me, but what about others? Me and Jan work with kids and have Criminal Records Bureau checks done on us, but who else can get our private information? and what are they using it for? not for our benefit I bet.

Re: How many of you knew this/
A scary thing about CRB checks is this. I spoke to a Policeman a long time ago about CRB checks. He said if a man has received an official caution for bad or inappropriate behaviour or criminal record it will show up. But, he said the Police could have a thick file on a man, but unless he has been nicked or cautioned, they have to report clear. Just look at the Jimmy Savile horror story. Nothing is perfect I suppose.

If someone has an on the spot fine (no caution) it shows up on certain checks too. If for instance you apply to join England football fans they can be told even though simply paying the fine is no proof or admission of guilt. I know nothing is perfect but how much worse can it be? Surely even a hint of child abuse is so much worse than swearing in the street? No, apparently not.
