Just saw interview with professor on Breakfast TV who said we're looking at approx 10years before trials on humans :-(

There is also talk that even with new stem cells, the fact that T1 is an auto-immune condition, there is a good chance the new cells would also be killed off ! Can't believe this got all the news hype really. Nothing like a cure and a long way off too !

Indeed Mo! Without being able to 'switch off' the rogue antibodies then how many times would we need treating to stay on an even keel and insulin free? I'm no scientist but we'd probably have to have our immune system destroyed through Chemo and then have a bone marrow transplant with all the big risks for it to work but there's not enough donors and matches out there for cancer patients even so that is a no go area even if that would work...Tricky one to say the least.
