Reading an article on AOL news written by 'The Motley Fool' it states 'Retirees spend £26,000 a year'
Somehow I do not think that applies to all retirees ...  

Indeed there are many families, who are not retirees, who may not even see £26,000 a year.

£26,000    I'm on just over half that and given the approx £3.50 increase in my pension this year I'll be long gone before I would get anywhere near that amount

Well, during this week my Dear Dad reached the grand old age of 92yrs old ...and I just thought I'd share this fact with friends on the forum
The birthday cake, enjoyed by all, was one of his favourites ... a lemon drizzle one!
No he didn't have 92 candles on it ... one sufficed

Do they have a Royal Wedding every time they want to distract us from the election?

Yes yes I know she isn't really Royal, just from Berkshire

A couple of contrasting days one full of happiness and tomorrow a day of sadness

Went to my nephews wedding yesterday which was pleasant day with lots of family and friends in attendance , tomorrow I'll be going to the funeral of one of my cousins 

Much like the rest of the country.

One day a Royal Wedding, then a mass bombing.

I do find the older I get faster the months  seem to pass  later this month on the 21st will be the summer solstice

Yep it's approaching fast, does seem that spring and summer fly by whilst winter drags on for ever 

Yes, Winter does seem to hang around far more than it used to.

I also think we used to have more definite seasons. These days they do seem to almost combine themselves and have become mixed up no matter what part of the world you may live.

What I love about us Brits is the way we do talk about the weather, and long may we continue to do so!

I asked the grandchildren, was it sunny today ... I was hoping it was because there were June Carnival Celebrations around and that means FUN!

Neighbours were having great fun today ... and we watched from a distance ... well bouncy castles aren't quite our scene. LOL!

This bouncy castle was a little different, stairs on one side which the kiddies climbed up and then slid down the other side ... such fun, but what I want to know is why do they always have so much fun trying to climb up the sliding part (with great difficulty) when stairs are provided ...

You always see similar in parks ...  some things never change

These neighbours also have the most amazing roses yellow, pinks, reds they are amazing, apparently it's a good year for Roses! Have you any growing?

Every time I turn round there are more roses out. Some took a bit of a battering in the recent storms but they are fighting back in profusion, the wild ones in the hedges too.

Today - 24th June 2017 - is armed forces day in the UK.

"Armed Forces Day is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets. There are many ways for people, communities and organisations across the country to show their support and get involved, from attending an event or joining us online to throwing a party or local event."

The 2017 National Event will be held in the heart of Liverpool on Saturday 24 June, but many towns and villages hold their own event in order to come together to acknowledge the hard work and sacrifice of those that serve....
