Managed another 60mins on the treadmill yesterday at work. I get bored running so I set a workout which is similar to Fire Service fitness assessment. It's easier on the joints too. I set the speed at 2.8mph, a brisk walk. The speed doesn't vary. Every minute, I raise the incline on the treadmill by 0.5%. So, our machine goes up to 15% incline, then I reverse it. It's an ideal workout as it sort of works out as a 20min warm up, 20min hard graft, 20min cool down. Once the treadmill gets to 10% or so, it is a tough workout. I guage my fitness levels not by speed or distance but by HR. Max HR for this was 148. This dropped to 110 at the finish. As I do this test more and more, the aim is to achieve same result with lower max HR and better recovery ( ideally, 100hr at finish ).
Still not had a beer which I'm quite chuffed with. Not missed it at all really. I'm resisting the weigh in until next week. Hope others are doing well and at least chipping away at their goals, if not fully realising them. Take care all :-)

Day 11, still no beer. Not really missing it to be honest although haven't been out much. Going to a restaurant and ordering a diet coke doesn't do it for me.
Another 60mins on the treadmill on Fri ( same session as before ), not much exercise over the weekend. I've purposely avoided the scales as I'll be disappointed if I only see a minor weight loss so going to give it a few days. I don't really feel as if I've lost any weight though.
    Good luck to everyone else.

Sorry MID only just seen your post ........ quite agree with you, heavy trolleys and wonky wheels can be another form of exercise .....mind you, you can't beat a nice walk in the winter sunshine that I am lucky to see from my window at the moment. Perhaps it will inspire me to get my winter coat, scarf, gloves on etc and have a wander outside.

Hope your weekend is going well.   Smile

Hi Mo .... glad to hear things are progressing ok, and hopefully you will get a pleasant surprise when you step on those scales. I too think that sometimes it's not wise to weigh daily - once a week maybe is better?

16K on the rower today, approx 75mins. Lunch was an apple and a few nuts but bit of a cheat on breakfast, small bowl of Oats So Simple cinnamon. Luckily, this doesn't affect my BG levels.

Well done! If your breakfast doesn't affect your BG's badly that's not a cheat in my book because it's low enough carb for you personally. (Not for me unfortunately though Sad )

Didn't manage any exercise yesterday ( on shift ) but managed a decent session on the rower today. A half marathon ( 21,097m ) in approx 1hr 40mins at a nice steady pace.
Still not had a beer and don't even fancy one to be honest. The only problem I do have is the more I exercise, the hungrier I get. I feel 100% but not sure of any significant weight loss, we'll see.
My new drink of choice is now:

I'm getting through a bottle a day. Lovely stuff. I call it "albino lager" !!

Is Pelligrino a sparkling water?  I always used to like Perrier - but now I generally just use tap water lol!

A walk around the block is fantastic Jan ! Exercise is all relevant. The main thing is do something and do that something regularly.
Yes, Pellegrino is sparkling and it is lovely. So much nicer than regular fizzy water.

Couldn't help do a little more research into Pellegrino and how about this !!

Courtesy of Tesco site http://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=254485998  and the Pellegrino website http://www.sanpellegrino.com/uk/en/default.aspx

"Pellegrino is ideal for accompanying the finest meals to share with friends, family and keeping the fridge stocked up.

S.Pellegrino embodies the finest side of the Italian way of living - it's all about beauty, passion, food and togetherness.

Naturally carbonated, S.Pellegrino has unique mid-size bubbles that reveal the finest tastes of food. A bottle of S.Pellegrino makes every moment, whether special or everyday, an extraordinarily fine experience.

Since 1899 S.Pellegrino has been synonymous with the finest mineral water. Legend has it that in 1509 Leonardo Da Vinci traced the source and produced a map of the region. In 1748, the water was analysed - and its pure composition is still identical today."

Can't be bad.....the recommended serving temperature is 8-10°C.

So thanks Mo you never know where a conversation or New Year Resolution will lead sunny

Day 16, still no beer. Out cleaning windows all day today with a friend so pretty active. Bit of bad news though. My scales I originally used have gone Pete Tong. I purchased a new set from Amazon, all fancy with BMI and water % etc. Arrived today, jumped on and I am 7lb heavier than last week !!!! So, dilemma, can I have gained half a stone ? Are my new scales or my old scales reading wrong ? Difficult to say. Anyway, I'll take the weight increase and carry on but I'll struggle to see a decent drop now.
So, to summarize, may as well drink beer ! As soon as I quit, I gained half a stone in a week lol !
