Spotted a Bargain Empty Spotted a Bargain

    Post by Jan1 Tue Oct 07 2014, 18:44

If you've spotted a great buy or bargain please share it here.

Kicking off with Sausages. I usually buy the 97% meat kind but in my local Asda I spotted these.

Asda Extra Special, 12 Pork Chipolata Sausages, 375g in weight, 90% pork, buy two packs for £4-00. I believe the usual price is £2-98 per pack, although they have been on special offer previously at buy two for £5-00. So at buy two for £4-00 great I thought.

We tried them out and Eddie's blood sugar numbers were fine so they passed the test.

Over to you guys and girls for more info on thoughts, suggestions, info on other bargains etc. Smile

    All the best Jan

No haven't tried 'Jazz' apples....must look out for them. They're ok for me to eat but are not the best for Eddie. Blueberries are great though. Are there any bargains to be had - does anyone know?

Good idea Paul. You can quite often get some good pre Christmas deals and lets face it there's not that many shopping days left 'til the 25th December. santa

Is that what you get if you cross-breed an apple with a "Jazz Cigarette"?

With reference to Paul and I 'talking' on the "What is your Favourite Cheese Topic", thought it may be a good idea to put it on this Spotted a Bargain Topic too.

Castello Danish Blue Cheese 150g £1-00 in Tesco and Asda ...perhaps buy two tubs if you can while it's at this good price. Smile

If you are lucky enough to live near an Aldi ...... some of their lower priced vegetables this week are leeks and cauliflower - from 59p each. How about getting some cauliflower and trying out a cauliflower based pizza crust  Question  (recipe in the Cauliflowers section )

On Wednesday we were in Sainsbury's a very small cauliflower was £2 it was not much bigger than a grapefruit. Yesterday in Morrison's (who had signs up saying we price match Lidl and Aldi) a cauliflower around twice the size was 69 pence. Tesco has lost the plot completely and Sainsbury's is going the same way. The Tesco business model is finished, if it could be salvaged the business would have been snapped up by the venture capital sharks. One of the richest men in the world Warren Buffet has just dumped his Tesco stock and said "I made a huge mistake buying into Tesco" Warren Buffet makes very few mistakes, that is why he is one of the richest and most successful investors of all time.

Tesco over expanded too quickly and got greedy. If they stuck to groceries, they'd do OK but banks, ins, phones etc ?

How we shop has completely changed in recent years.

Whether it's food shopping, Christmas Shopping, whatever we buy many of us use the internet....so the larger shops are becoming a thing of the past.

Having said that I was in my local supermarket earlier today and it was heaving!

My best buy was a cabbage, very reasonably priced......and it will be one of the vegetables we enjoy tomorrow with our chicken dinner. Smile

But thanks 'Avocado S' for the tip off regarding the nuts in Tesco.

That sounds a good price to me Ali. Have you managed to get any pre Christmas bargains or are you waiting 'til nearer the 24th December?

I do try and get a few extra bits and pieces in ......to coin a phrase 'every little helps' Embarassed  goodness did I just say that well worn phrase?

I've never really been a wine drinker but I'm gonna start cutting out beer ( not good for me and I've put some weight on ) and trying to get into wine. I like red wines but I'm a heathen as I like it chilled like white ! Any cheap recommendations for a vino newbie ? Cheap & cheerful as I drink little and often :-)
