Ken Dodd Tribute Empty Ken Dodd Tribute

I couldn't find in on YouTube but he once did a hysterical version of his story about the man who invented cats' eyes. He went on about the guy driving over the Pennines in the fog, having difficulty seeing the road, when ahead of him he saw a cat whose eyes glowed in the light from his headlamps. The he threw away the punchline

"Of course if the cat was facing the other way he'd have invented the pencil sharpener"

Didn't he get a wonderful send off from Liverpool, I thought the diddy kids were great.

'Happiness' was one of my mums favourites, I found I was singing it quite a lot yesterday - well if you could call my singing, singing LOL!

I preferred more subtle humour, but that's just me. Four candles.

    "Four candles."

Yes, that sketch from 'The Two Ronnies' was just brilliant.

I was reminiscing over some of the old lines from Round The Horne/Beyond Our Ken which was required listening when I was young, I think on the Light Programme on Sunday lunchtimes.

"It was a fearsome sight. The thousand kilted Scotsmen, leaping through the tall thistles, screaming!

    "Smith! Call me a cab"

"Certainly, sir. You are a taxi, sir"

"The mayor pulled on his chain reflexively, and his face flushed"

Other programmes included Ken Dodd, Jimmy Clitheroe, Al Read and the Navy Lark.

I also remember listening to Family Favourites  Smile

I sometimes wonder what the current younger generation may remember ...

Some of them have never even heard of Monty Python

oh that was another one but I think in the evening - I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again, starring the Goodies and some of the Pythons

Tim Brooke Taylor as a witch "Yes, yes! I can! I can!"

John Cleese "Can you foretell the future? . . . wait a minute, that's really clever"
