Canada Is Out of Butter Empty Canada Is Out of Butter

Shopping earlier this week ... butter was on my list, and something I've noticed is that in recent months there does seem to be a good number of varieties/makes available to choose. Our favourite has always been Kerrygold - but it is more expensive. Friends of ours like Lurpak, whilst others it's President. Of course supermarkets offer their 'own labels' too and are often that little bit cheaper.

But reading this today on Diet Doctor - I thought it an article worth sharing ...

"Canada is facing a butter shortage going into the holiday season. This due to a smart consumer shift from margarine to real butter ... Shoppers may soon see the effects of a nationwide butter shortage as they start their traditional holiday cooking and baking despite efforts by the Canadian dairy industry to ramp up production ..."

Hopefully this will never be the case in the UK even though butter consumption is on the rise as the stats show

Butter consumption rose by 1.9% between 2012 and 2013 and is 20.8% higher than ten years ago.

Now that Kerrygold are  promoting Bullet Proof Coffee  thumb-up that consumption could rise even more.
