Thanks for letting me join & am looking forward to finding my way around Smile

Only recently diagnosed & like, I guess, many of you was somewhat shocked; I'm slim, low body fat, no family history & very fit. In my next life.......!

Initial advice given was 'you have a good diet so will just have to tweak it a little'. This made no sense to me & after a little research came to the conclusion that a low carb/ increased protein diet was worth trying. Have been trying this fairly successfully for a few weeks & was delighted to find this site (well done to the person/s who started it & those who've contributed). I've a lot to learn & think some of the answers will be here

will end there; have just been out to a nice restaurant & had a couple of glasses of a rather pleasant Merlot &, rather unusually, a digestif- a Cointreau - after the meal. Break it to me gently if wine & Cointreau are on the 'naughty list' drunken

Hi welcome on board, I was the same as you at diagnosis slim, low body fat and no family history, if your like me cutting the calories is not an option.

Red wine's fine as is dry white and spirits are ok, I'd avoid the liqueurs though not a good option.

    Cheers
    Graham

Welcome aboard the politically incorrect and highly irreverent forum. Nutters much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum ! Have a read through some threads and if you have any questions, please ask. As for a drop of wine & some Cointreau, a little of what you fancy won't hurt.

Thank you everyone for your welcomes

Am curious about Jan 's '50' – am guessing this is grams of carb per day. If so I'm intrigued how this is done – hopefully, the answer lies somewhere in the forum  study

Good to hear from Graham. I've never counted calories in my life & doubt I ever will. My biggest 'problem' is I'm @ the gym 4 times per week (I sort-of enjoy it & the friends I train with are good fun) & push myself hard: 2x60 minute classes (1 primarily cardio, 1 circuits – a mixture of cardio & weights) & 2 days where I do 45 minutes weights then 45 minutes 'spin class'. I really don't want to lose weight so am hoping the forum helps with maintaining weight in general & whether there are any foods to have before/during/after exercise (whey protein??)

Thank you to Two Collies for the recipe but, like Homer Simpson once said “Life's too short to wait for a drink”. I jest: given that I have a small measure of Cointreau approx every 10 years I will have long gone to meet my maker – or the other place – before I make any impression on any home-made hooch

Am puzzled by Eddie's “Nutters much appreciated”. We've obviously met sometime  Wink

And Mo1905's comment that “a little of what you fancy won't hurt”. I'll drink to that – cheers!  lol!

    Best wishes all

Hi to' Inmynextlife'  ....... to answer you - yes my 50 is no more than 50 grams of carbs per day.

Take today for instance 3 small low carb sausages (those made with at least 97%meat) a fried egg and handful of mushrooms for breakfast. I did have a small snack of chicken slices at lunch (hardly any carbs) and then dinner tonight was white fish, cooked with roasted low carb Mediterranean vegetables red and yellow peppers, courgette and onion plus a few cherry tomatoes served with buttery mashed swede. Blueberries and double cream to follow. A snap shot into the type of foods which I now eat ....... that by embracing the choice of eating whole fresh foods and eating to a template that is low carb / high fat / moderate protein foods.

I started living the LCHF lifestyle six years ago and just wouldn't return to eating the higher carbs / processed foods I used to eat then - for more read the post I've recently put on 'Five Simple Health and Fitness Tips for 2015 - or any year.' ...... and feel free to ask more questions.

    All the best Jan
