What is your favourite low carb starter, main course and dessert?

My virtual LCHF dinner party is...

    Starter: jalapeño poppers

Main: vegetable korma with coconut lime cauliflower rice

    Dessert: key lime pie

Starter Garlic mushrooms done in lots of lovely garlicky and thyme butter

Main Portabello mushrooms baked in oven with olive oil and garlic, served on top of a bed of mixed salad leaves and topped with griddled halloumi cheese and/or homemade spicy burgers- all soused with hot pepper sauce

Dessert- anyone got any mushroom based desserts? Not really got a sweet tooth so probably a cheese board with celery and pickled shallots and maybe one or two grapes to keep my DN happy.

My favourite low carb starter has to have mushrooms in the recipe.

My favourite main course would probably be a fish dish with lots of lovely non starchy vegetables

My favourite dessert could be something with cream! Just add blue berries/raspberries.

However, there is so much great choice by tomorrow I may have changed my mind.

I just love looking at and adapting recipes ....I'm no Delia but I try.

    Sorry no pictures.

    That pie does look good.

    All the best Jan

I've recently started trying to grow my own veg and am loving it, although it would probably be cheaper just to go to the shops ! I grew potatoes for the first time and was chuffed when they were ready although I only had enough for 1 decent meal. I'm a bit of a townie so this is all new to me. A work colleague recently gave me some carrot seeds to plant. Not having a clue, I planted them all in a box about 2foot by 2foot. I stuck 1000 seeds in lol ! It looks like water cress now so I'm starting to try to thin them out but think I've just failed badly. I want to try growing swede next year.

you have just reminded me , my dear old grandad grew all his vegetables, enough for all the family and neighbours ....carrots at the end of the season were stored in sand ....apples in newspapers in boxes etc ...all to,use over winter ...
They had no,processed food and no fridges,,but we all got vegetables

Thought it may be nice to review the 'Come Dine With Me' thread !

The dinner party / supper party is in a few weeks time so plenty of time to think about the menu you may serve (it's pretend remember!)

But you also have to invite four guests ...they could be from the world of entertainment / films etc. Or politicians, perhaps an author, perhaps a sportsman?

Which four guests would you invite?

The following list is only suggestions - haven't yet come up with the definitive list (or menu) we've plenty of time  Smile

George Clooney and his new wife Amal Alamuddin?

Kofi Annan the Ghanaian diplomat who served as Secretary-General of the United Nations?

MP Dennis Skinner .....he's always got some good views?

    Prince William and Kate?

Lewis Hamilton, Arsene Wenger, Sir Alex Ferguson ?

Can you think of four you'd like to invite?

The menu will be LCHF of course.

    All the best Jan

ooooh! Very Happy I'm not a socialising kinda guy in real life BUT if I was doing a 'Dinner party' I'd like Steven Frayne AKA 'Dynamo Magician impossible' as he genuinely amazes me,Paul Gascoigne as I know deep down he's a good guy who is battling demons and misunderstood and some of his difficulties ring true with me so I reckon we'd get on really well,Kirsten Dunst...well,just because I have a thing for Redheads and fancy her rotten LOL...Finally,Lord Sugar...not because I like him-I don't BUT every dinner party should have someone that you can slate and make fun of for lively banter! Twisted Evil

    Oh dear !

Dennis Skinner I admire but not for a dinner party.

This would be my fantasy dinner party list

Graham Norton one of the funniest blokes I have ever seen

Stephen Fry would be a fantastic guest

    Peter Kay a comedy genius

Alan Carr (yet another gay bloke) does that say something about me ?

Julie Walters best actress in the world I reckon and very funny

Lindsey Hilson very bright and one very brave lady

Kim Basinger I have been in love with that women since the first time I saw her (don't tell Jan)

Joan Rivers sadly passed on recently

That would do me plus my Jan of course.

I would invite Danny Baker as he always has a good story to tell, David Bowie cos he's just a cool guy, Kelly Brook for eye candy and Prof Brian Cox for intelligent banter about The Universe.

He's an actor who I first noticed in a TV series Between the Lines (or as I called it 'Between the Sheets' Smile ) He asked my husband the way to the station once. Shame I wasn't with hubby at the time. Sad
