My success story with the usual sting in the tail !

    Post by mo1905 on Wed Oct 22 2014, 13:56

I had my latest appt at the diabetes clinic 20th Oct 2014. I had HbA1C and requested results. This is the reply from Addenbrookes:

    Hi Maurice

Just checked it's the same as Febuary 41 (5.9%) which is great but are
you having a lot of hypos?

Tough call Mo it's just you against the system which equates a low A1c to hypos regardless of your own evidence.

Great results by the way cheers

Thanks chaps. I'm very happy with my control and I don't hypo. Low carb along with exercise is the easy answer for me !

Latest HbA1C today and chuffed with a 42. Usual comment though, "are you having lots of hypo's?" ! I just smile and say no. BP a bit high which wasn't great but I think that's a bit of a family trait. So, I'm fairly happy.
What was a bit annoying though was taking my van and ladders for the first time to Addenbrookes multi-storey car park. I stopped just by the barrier and checked to see I would fit in. Looked OK. Went through barriers then heard a nasty scraping sound as my ladders snagged the ducting ! Grr ! Not a great start.

Congrats on the A1c Mo! Smile Bummer about your van though! Did something like that myself a few years ago with my bosses Land Rover entering a country park that had the anti caravan barriers up-ended up damaging the barrier and tearing the warning beacon off the Landie's roof!! Didn't half cack myself on the way back to the depot!

Well done again Mo Very Happy pity some HCPs always correlate a low A1c in type ones with hypos though.

You could try explaining that you don't get hypos because you don't eat a high carb low fat diet.

You may need skills in CPR soon after . . .
