A Group Of Doctors Has Embraced The Low-Carb, High-Fat Diet. But Is It Just Another Fad?

    Post by graham64 on Thu May 31 2018, 22:54

It's a long post and I have not read it all yet but it looks like another plus for low carb  Cool

These female physicians recommend LCHF eating as a 'lifestyle,' yet no studies have confirmed that it's effective in the long term. Is it just another sign that diet culture is alive and well?

Ah, journalists, turning sense into drivel.

"no studies have confirmed that it’s effective in the long term"

    well there's evolution . . .

On the other hand were are the studies to confirm the effectiveness of LFHC over the long term  Question

In the absence of any long term LCHF studies I will continue with my ten year N=1 with my trusty BG meter far more reliable than the so called "evidence based guidelines"

Yes well you can see the results every day, and they ain't pretty Sad

It's a very good point though, somehow the default position doesn't require any "evidence" but LCHF has to jump through hoops and then be pulled apart mercilessly by the legions of the clueless.

Yes but LCHF doesn't line the pockets of big pharma nor the cereal manufacturers so it's always going to come under attack from vested interests

    Follow the money $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Then when we DO get evidence, like Virta and David Ludwig & Co's Type 1 study, they say it's "the wrong kind of evidence". And when Sarah Hallberg puts together a list of low carb studies it's the wrong list. <sigh>

Agreed but hopefully the tide is turning and they can't repeatedly ignore the benefits of low carb which the BBC programme tonight highlighted
