More than two million extra people should be offered statins to help prevent deaths from heart disease, health chiefs have ruled.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has said patients suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD) face a higher risk of potentially fatal heart problems and should be given access to the cholesterol-lowering drugs.

Around eight million Britons currently take the daily pill to reduce the chances of heart attacks and strokes despite years of medical controversy regarding its efficacy and side-effects.

The statin floggers will not give up until statins are in infants formula milk. affraid The Colombian drug cartels are honest guys compared to the bent on the payroll statin pushers. The drug cartels make no bones about any kind of health benefits, their crap kills and they are only interested in taking the victims money.

While I am still fighting the battle against obesity, I am still experiencing water retention. Occasionally I suffer burst blisters on my leg, which can develop into ulcers. The first one that went bad-ways, kept sloughing; and didn't respond to any of their remedies. The sloughing just kept getting larger. When it finally went, after new dry dressings every day, I was left with venous eczema; which discoloured my shins so much, it looks like I have been knee deep in the grape-crushing barrel!

The treatment originally given was a seaweed based preparation, despite my telling the nurse I had an iodine allergy.

Now, what follows might sound daft, but I watched a film called 'The Equalizer'. In the film Denzal Washington's character needs emergency first aid, and he uses honey on a wound.) This sounded a tiny bell in my mind, and led me to do some research.

As a result whenever I have a burst blister now, I treat it immediately with common or garden, pure honey, and a mepore dressing. (So far I find the raw blisters heal in a matter of days, with no sloughing whatsoever.

I feel sure if I told my Doctor she would go bonkers, but how I wish I'd known about this when I had the first blister burst on my shin! Now I will 'stick' with my honey remedy in secret from my GP.

A bonus is that the honey also soothes the damnable itching I experience with the varicose veins. Strange that my old Mum used to administer borax and honey on my mouth ulcers, (with which I was plagued as a nipper.) Old wives' tales eh?  I wouldn't exactly resort to vinegar and brown paper, but there's a lot to be said for old remedies.

Spiders webs also work as well, or so I am told. Wobbly.
Can't you take a diuretic for fluid tension. If in your case, you are sensitive to salt, it will cause you to retain fluid.

Just don't lick your fingers after applying the honey! Actually I've seen Manuka honey recommended, including by ER staff, not just old wives.

Sympathies on the fluid retention, I got that when my thyroid first blew up, mainly around the lower part of my gut and also my ankles and feet, a result of the effect on my arteries and probably also my heart.

It came back a bit recently when my thyroid blew up again this time only around my gut, and is receding again now the thing has gone back on its rails (with a "Who, me???" innocent look on its little face), I had to more than double the dose of my medication for a while, now I'm back to my "normal" dose again.

Just another example of how the endocrine system is interconnected.

New NHS initiative could well get many more on statins Rolling Eyes

Blood tests in chemists as 7 million go undiagnosed

High street pharmacies will be expected to play a role by providing free blood pressure checks on request. They will also join GPs in offering pin-prick blood tests to diagnose high cholesterol, for which statins are usually prescribed.

    In a word, bollocks!

I'd rather the heart attack than lingering on to get cancer or Alzheimer's thank you very much.

What's the betting they DON'T look at triglycerides?

And especially not glucose, let alone insulin.
