Regretfully this is 'a bit Apt'
In this 'day and age' (gosh using that phrase I sound just like my parents did) our mobile phones are in constant use, even in moments of danger.
I really don't know whether this is a good or bad thing ...

Re: A Bit Apt
... yes, the photo's and videos that are out there are mind boggling.
Mobile phones have certainly come on a lot since their introduction to the UK in 1985
"The first mobile phone calls were made on Cellnet and Vodafone 30+ years ago.
The companies we know as Vodafone and O2 today were Racal-Vodafone and Securicor-Cellnet back then, phones were the size of a small suitcase and only did voice. They didn’t even let you assign names to the numbers in the phonebook."

How things have changed over the years
Can you/readers remember what make your first mobile phone was?

Re: A Bit Apt
Hehe, I had one in a truck once, which resembled those old Police radios they used to have on the back of their motorbikes with a full size bakelite handset and a box the size of a small suitcase.
You couldn't actually make a phone call as such, you rang I think it was Vodafone and you left a message which they then forwarded by landline, then called you back with the reply they received.
It cost an arm and a leg to use so was rapidly disconnected.
A manager had an actual carphone back in the eighties which was similar in size but actually let you ring to a landline, or even another carphone if you knew anyone else who had one.
A few people had those brick-sized mobiles.
I spent so much time on (landline) phones at work, and at home when I was courting, that I subsequently became somewhat allergic to using them. I bought my first mobile when we were house-hunting, for which it was highly useful, and only bothered to upgrade when it finally expired. Now my all-singing all-dancing smartphone is on voicemail most of the time and I practically have to force myself to reply. At least it's easier to text on, not that I bother doing that much either.
