    Golf - The Ryder Cup

    Post by Jan1 on Sat Sep 27 2014, 13:04

Regardless of what has been said on other topic posts - I do enjoy watching and listening to golf. Well what choice do I have ? lol!

With Eddie having played golf and two sons who also played golf it has been in the family quite a good few years now.

I've never played but have enjoyed a good walk around several golf courses ....... and the 19th hole is quite an enjoyable place to meet like minded people. Smile

The Ryder Cup has been an integral part of our family for many years now and this weekend in September every two years, is always in the diary.

We do not have Sky, so are following it on Radio 5 Live (excellent commentary) and the good old BBC highlights. Yes, I do of course want the Europeans to win (apologies to all my Stateside friends) but what I most enjoy is the good golf.

More on this later ..... I'm sure.

Any other golf fans here ?

    All the best Jan

Internal friction showing in the US camp. More importantly, it's about time anyone who shouts "get in the hole" should be forcibly ejected from the course and banned for life ...

I'm with you Paul. I was put off golf when I went to Wentworth with my family and almost got hit on the head by a very wayward shot from Ernie Els. Never again. The walking was good though. Smile

I had to laugh .... one of our family members is not keen on using irons either! A big stretch of a tee shirt to pull it into shape and there's the ironing done  affraid

Now back to the Golf ......

The big earners don't have any worry with irons of any sort.

Their clubs are supplied along with their new polo shirts for every game I think .....

It's September 2018 and time for the 42nd Ryder Cup Match which is being held in France from 28–30 September 2018 on the Albatros Course of Le Golf National in Guyancourt, a suburb southwest of Paris.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Ryder_Cup

We do not have SKY TV so part of today has been spent listening to BBC Radio 5 Live ... their commentators are excellent and really bring the feel of the occasion and matches extremely well over the radio waves!

At the end of the first day scores are:
    Europe 5 US 3

    Wonder what may happen tomorrow?

I know the grandchildren have their golf lesson in the morning  Smile
Future Ryder Cup Players? Well maybe  Razz

Must say the beer and wine and cups of tea were flowing … well some of us were driving! LOL!
