Coffee makes me tired Empty Coffee makes me tired

    Post by Andy12345 Sat Feb 18 2017, 17:15

    Howdy

I'm quite a fan of coffee, but am sitting wondering why it makes me tired, I'm an insomniac in general, middle of the night waker (yes that's  waker) so anyway, I was sitting here wondering how when I drink coffee in the evening it's like taking a sleeping pill (not that I ever tried that)

and then I started wondering if it's connected to adrenaline *allergy* the dentist diagnosed me with years ago (if I go to dentist and they jab me with the local anastetic that contains adrenaline I go home a crash out, I mean comatose, the dentist reckoned it could be an allergy to adrenaline so tried the kind without it in and hey presto I was fine, although I'm not sure you can be allergic to a hormone? That occurs naturally)

So I'm think coffee and adrenaline are suppose to be a stimulant but both zonk me out, I've been googling it and there is little to suggest I'm not just weird but I found this

If you are wondering "why does coffee make me tired?" another reason is the way the caffeine affects your insulin, dampening its sensitivity. Insulin detects sugar within the bloodstream and makes sure the body uptakes it to produce energy. When your insulin doesn’t work correctly, you have less sugar accessible as energy, leading to a feeling of tiredness.

This to me sounds like it could be something to do with my insulin sensitivity, anyone heard of anything like it before?

Yippee I got to the question

Thanks in advance if anyone got to the end, I tried to add paragraphs, if they are in the wrong place, at least I tried and God loves a tryer  Neutral

Interesting. Do you have any symptoms of ADD? Not necessarily hyperactive. I ask because I am (or was) prone to ADD-like symptoms like hyperfocus and losing concentration, and one very characteristic thing is that I can drink coffee right up to bedtime and sleep like a log, unlike my ex and numerous other people who can't drink it later than the afternoon.. Back in the day I have been known to take amphetamine and become very calm and focussed and likewise sleep like a baby and wake up totally refreshed, which is practically a diagnostic.

However this is yet another thing that has mostly resolved, whether from reduced glucose or increased ketones I'm not sure, but in my case it's the other way round.

    Thankyou Chris

I've started looking at ADD so far extremely interesting as I have some symptoms but not others, I've always called add naughty kid/rubbish parent syndrome, how ironic if I had it because my parents were pretty cool (apart from the the drunken abuse lol)

For example I was very disruptive in school lol but never aggressive, I just couldn't and still can't bare being cooped up in a classroom then and bank/accountant/office now I've never read a book because I can't, I literally can't, I can read every word but can't read a whole page, posts like this size are my limit, this of course made an education impossible, apart from being good at art and music (infinitely patient with both)

And I am the single most impatient person in the world, maybe I have patience D D, I can't watch someone doing something I could do quicker myself, I use the example of money exchange, I changed up £9k to $? This year for holiday and had to stand and watch the person count it, holy crap I was freaking out, I kept saying "that's fine" "don't bother I'll just take it" I could have run out screaming, I had to tell my daughter to stand there and step away, it's bonkers (am I allowed to use the B word?)

Must read more, thanks for the idea

Jeez Andy, you are more f**cked up than I thought rofl Seriously mate we all have our strange ways. The way I see it, we are all nuts, the difference is some of us are harmless and some of us are dangerous. Some of us would rather help someone and some, only a few, want to take people down. We have all seen this on diabetes forums, no names, no pack drill. The trick I reckon is turning these personalty quirks we all have to our advantage.

Lol, I don't feel strange, I'd rather help someone than not but was just wondering about the coffee thing and as I saw a connect to db I thought I'd ask, the add is interesting, but I'm not looking for help, if I have a thing, it's never bothered me, it's neither an advantage or disadvantage it's just a quirk I guess like you say, I can't say I'd change a thing about my life if I could turn back the clock (ok maybe I wouldn't steel my dads car when I was 16 and smash it up) but apart from that, oh I probly would have tried harder not to get banned from dcuk, I used to enjoy trying to save the world even if it didn't want to be saved, I could try and save you Eddie Smile

Hey Smile how's it going grandpa? Saw the picture, really cute!

Thanks for the link, weirdly I can go the whole day without a coffee, then at say 7pm drink a cup and boom I'm falling asleep, like I've drank night nurse or something, very strange

    Nice to see you mate

"As for Eddie, lost cause unfortunately" Never truer words spoken. The worst part is I don't give a f**k. When you get to a stage in life, when you know your next big appointment is going to be with the grim reaper, it puts most things into perspective. I have done all I ever wanted to do, had some good hands and bad hands dealt, far more good than bad. I left school at 15 still doing a bit of work at 67 and never out of work. Expecting anymore would have been greedy I reckon.

Hehe, sounds plausible then, you don't need to also have the hyperactivity. It can be very useful if you can hyperfocus, I used to be ace at picking berries or finding mushrooms once I got my eye in, and also for detailed stuff like computer programming or being a sniper where you need to shut the rest of the world out and concentrate on just the one thing. It probably exists because of survival advantages in the past.

In the modern world, not so much, when you're In A Meeting and suddenly "Ooh! A moth!"

The response to stimulants can be quite diagnostic, where they speed other people up the dopamine actually slows your brain down to normal speed. Curiously I think the ketones are what have made me much more laidback and placid, along with ageing of course.

Probably the logic is that when you're full of meat and vegetables you don't need to go out hunting and gathering again for a while. When you only have berries and worse high carb crap your body tells your brain it's starving and to get in gear and DO SOMETHING!!!

There's a lot of feedback from the body via the endocrine system into the brain, at least as much as the other way round.

    http://itsthewooo.blogspot.co.uk/

would be a good blog except she is so wordy you probably wouldn't be able to get through her posts, she's a total nut-job but in a GOOD way, and has learned a load of stuff on her journey through life about the interface between brain and body and the utter complexity which a lot of mainstream people ignore.

Hahahaha when I lived in Surrey I was described as "A rather odd person" by a psychiatrist. I took it as a compliment. She was so screwed up that if she ever came here, or worse to Norfolk, she'd want to section EVERYONE!

As one of the old loose cannon warriors it was easy for me, I never had anything to lose. Five days into low carbing and around a 100 test strips convinced me there was only one way to tame the diabetes beast. I still believe more than ever LCHF is the only way for most diabetics, but not all. The fact is the 'warriors' have only ever been messengers, but I like to think we have played a small part in helping others, and maybe, just maybe, encouraged a few truly brave medical pro's to speak out. As we have seen, some of the pro's have been treated abysmally, by the junk shills and diet of slow death payola merchants, and these brave souls do have much to lose.

Anyway Andy, you worked hard at the forum of flog encouraging others, it is not hard to understand why people have had enough after the flog experience.  I find it deliciously ironic, that the naysayers at the flog now see the owner galloping around the world spreading the great LCHF good news. Who would have thunk it rofl
