    Prawn & Crab Stir Fry

Post by chris c on Thu Sep 15 2016, 21:44

Something I did the other night which I hadn't had for a while.

Chop some bacon and fry in coconut oil. Add multicoloured peppers, chillies, garlic chopped to suitable sizes. Add a handful of prawns (I used frozen) and when thawed add a can of crab meat or fresh crab if you have one).

Sprinkle on a dash of toasted sesame oil and serve with ground black pepper and sea salt. I cheated and had it with some rice, but then I hadn't had many carbs all day.

Alternatives - lemon juice, lemon grass, or even better lime juice.

Yum ... prawns and crab, a delicious mix Smile

Not sure about the rice though?

A cauliflower rice for me I think!
But a great idea, thanks for sharing it Chris

I only had a LITTLE rice! Quinoa would be another alternative, I toast it briefly then boil it until it starts to uncurl. You don't need much, the crab and prawns are quite filling.

Never tried Quinoa - although many do like it, more details here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quinoa
    or here https://authoritynutrition.com/11-proven-benefits-of-quinoa/

Crab and prawns are a really good mix ... especially as you suggest (above) served with lemon or lime juice

A slightly different recipe idea but one that uses prawns, smoked salmon and crab is this one:

No-cook prawn, smoked-salmon and crab terrine with lemony leaves
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/food-and-drink/recipes/no-cook-prawn-smoked-salmon-and-crab-terrine-with-lemony-leaves/

Can work well if you are looking for something a little different, served with low carb crackers!

    All the best Jan
