Back everything up just to be on the safe side! Actually I should take my own advice, my fileserver crashed with a bad disk, I bought a new one but didn't get around to fitting it yet (it has a RAID array so is fairly resilient but takes ages to rebuild the array with a new disk). In fact I should finish building my new computer and man up to Windows 7 <G>

    Sounds like good advice Chris.

After a lot of messing about/sorting through/logical thinking/deleting some programmes/and goodness knows what else ... my computer seems to be behaving itself ... touch wood.

Eddie is hoping that he will no longer be hearing sighs, growls, Grr's etc coming from the direction of me and my computer!!!

    Time will tell

Mine's crashed again twice despite not doing so for a long time, and my router has been knocked offline a couple of times too. Wonder if there are some nasties about, Kaspersky says no but of course it might have been hacked by the CIA, being Russian after all . . .

Just about everyone's watching us nowadays. I think the CIA keeps tabs on the people GCHQ aren't allowed to and vice versa.

    Have you noticed any???

Vegetable shortages is what I'm talking about.

Due to severe weather in Spain some vegetables are in short supply.
Shopping yesterday there were notices up apologising that some vegetables may not be on the shelves , and yes some of the shelves were empty!

But I managed to get all that I wanted

Are fellow readers being as lucky or have you had to change your shopping plans?

The supply (and quality) of sprouts and purple sprouting has been rather variable but I suspect that's for local weather-related reasons. I bet it's all the recent push for "eat more vegetables", Meatless Mondays, etc. without the dieticians warning the growers to expect more demand.

My computer crashed and the overheat buzzer came on. I'd got sloppy cleaning it, once I'd vacuumed out piles of dust, cobwebs and dead spiders it's back to working properly again. My many fans (cooling, that is) suck stuff in and it stays there unless I suck it back out again. I suspect the spiders go in because it's warm, build webs, fail to catch any flies, and expire. While I was in there, I pulled the various cards and plugs, reseated them and wiggled them about a bit. Perhaps someone should do that to me.

I sometimes buy the mixed berries container that Sainsbury's do, you get blueberries, strawberries and raspberries ... always lovely with double cream! The only trouble is they are a bit more expensive.

Dare I say roll on summer and our lovely tasting British Strawberries Smile

Mother would never buy strawberries until Wimbledon.

I'm not that restrictive but like asparagus the flavour and quality improves the less distance they have to travel. After a few dire experiences I stick to UK produced ones, and especially Elsanta while they are available. For now I'll have blueberries, even if they come from exotic foreign climes they don't seem to tail off in quality in the same way.

No purple sprouting again this week but I still have some from last week. OTOH the last lot of sprouts from the farm shop were distinctly below average, this lot from the veg shop are distinctly above average.

They also had plantains, which I used to love, but my experience with bananas suggests they wouldn't be a good idea. I did get some Jerusalem artichokes though, and some carrots, both of which work OK when diluted by other veggies.

I did a favor for the owner of the drury tea and coffee company a few years ago, you can't buy their tea in the shops but all the top restaurants etc apparently insist on it, ever since he personally delivers me a cardboard box of linen tea bags in his Bentley, must be 3 or 4 hundred to a box, he damaged his car in my car park time before last, that's the end of my teabags I thought but he brought me another box recently, the tea is incredible, everyone I make tea for says "my" tea is amazing

What a nice geeza, he doesn't need to do it

Kettles here are strictly deciduous, on account of the hard water. Even when you decoke them regularly they don't last. I favour Igenix, they seem to last longer and the concrete doesn't build up so quickly and falls off on its own more.

My parents had the same kettle for decades, until they eventually replaced it with a Russell Hobbs which switched itself off.

I do hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day yesterday ...
I'm sure so many flowers, chocolates were given.

A friend was complaining that it was quite a scramble in some of the shops to grab a bunch of roses!

Anyway with Valentine's Day out of the way, I think the card shops will be putting out Mother's Day cards next ... just warning you!
