Hi Derek I would expect a report from your Endo would have been sent to your surgery might be worthwhile having a word with your doctor because I would think your low Vit D needs supplementing from what I can gather below 30 nmol/L is considered deficient

    Congrats on the A1c.

Yes vitamin D is technically more of a hormone than a vitamin, it is involved in no end of body chemistry.

The recommendations I have from elsewhere are for vitamin D3 in gel caps as being the most easily absorbed. Prescriptions are usually for D2. It runs low at this time of year as a result of the lack of sunshine. I generally take 1000 iu caps daily, no harm has come to me yet!

Loads of information here and hereChris Masterjohn has a metric shitload of stuff on the balance between vitamin D, A and K2. Or you can just eat loads of liver and cheese . . .

Liver for me so rich in nutrients, include it in your menu plans  Smile

and it's another Chris Kresser article!

    Liver: nature’s most potent superfood

"Conventional dietary wisdom holds that the micronutrients (vitamins, minerals and trace elements) we need from foods are most highly concentrated in fruits and vegetables. While it’s true that fresh fruits and veggies are full of vitamins and minerals, their micronutrient content doesn’t always hold up to what is found in meats and organ meats – especially liver."

    Hi Graham, Chris and Jan,
Many thanks for you suggestions I have ordered some Solgar capsules from Amazon. I shall also take the ones from the doctor when he prescribes Vit D supplement.
