It appears the flog admin has been more active in the last week than the previous year. The latest stunt, more forums. Jeez the way they are shaping up, they will have more forums than active genuine members. jocolor

Me thinks he is trying a bit too hard! The admin seems ever so eager to please all of a sudden, almost starting around the time you posted the second open letter to him that was seen by lot's of influential low carbers worldwide...Damage limitation perhaps? Coincidence? Who knows eh!

The flog has had it, it is on the way out, even Sid has done the off. They have tried countless stunts to increase membership, and get the cash register ringing. I have noticed forums are sinking in general. People are joining dedicated face book groups and twitter is buzzing with great stuff re. low carb from many of the worlds leading low carb Doctors and Scientists. Check out so many of the LC big names, so many running their own blogs now and posting on twitter every day of the week.

This forum is very small and will stay small I reckon, but what the hell. One thing is certainly very clear, low carb is now going mainstream big time. When some of us started promoting low carb many thought we were nutters, OK some think we are still nutters (especially me) but we have won my friends, the cat is out of the bag and will never go back. thumb-up

Sure, the BDA, DUK are fighting back with damage limitation exercises, but their buck passing is coming to an end, their efforts will prove to be futile. Those and their ilk are becoming increasingly irrelevant and many see them as a health hazard for diabetics. Even the flog is trying to jump on the low carb bandwagon, albeit with a 120-150 carbs a day. Trouble for the flog is they are years too late. They discarded the best and most knowledgeable low carbers over the years, countless thousands of low carb posts deleted and hundreds of low carbers banned. The flog backed the low carb antis, made so many mods and it has backfired on them big time.

Meanwhile over at the flog our ex mod the multi talented Zand has been working overtime to re-ingratiate herself back with the forum low carb antis and getting lots of likes from the Admin and the Cherub. Evidently  "Whilst I agree that bread and cereals aren't low carb, surely they can be part of a low carb diet? I have had a Lidl high protein roll for lunch. My total carb count for today will be 30g. That's low carb. This is where portion control comes in.

Portion control, is Zand taking over from the Bonkers one in his absence? Celeriac swiftly waded in with "So vegetarians get a no meat products in here forum and that's fine, but it's not fine to want a properly low carb forum without bread and sugar-free jelly, because some people can't give up junk food ? No wonder HCPs are sceptical about low carb, if the people saying that they low carb are eating processed food and carbs ! Celeriac was swiftly knocked down.

Forum admin piped up with "Low carb is full of individual-ness. It's what works for you. Whereas vegetarians are all veggie-lovers, so it's easier to stratify?" Can't argue with that I suppose, as Zand's idea of low carb was could she reach a box of buns without standing on a chair. Nice to see people doing their best to muddy the waters as to what a true low carb diet is all about.

By the cringe the flog and the human race never ceases to amaze me. As I often say welcome to the crazy world of diabetes.

    Flog Update.

"Quite! I know someone who is a great advocate of low carbing who has the occasional (monthly?) treat of a small portion of chip shop fish and chips. I wouldn't dream of criticizing him for this, even though I expect that has a much higher carb count than my lunch today."

That be me folks, Zand has spent years under one name or another following me. We nick named her Karla long ago. So much goes on behind the scene it would make your hair curl. facepalm

Was that really her again? I remember some of her earlier incarnations.

IMO their greatest failure was forbidding posting of offsite links. Like to Alan's blog and Test Test Test which emphasised finding your postprandial peak, generally around the 1 hour mark rather than testing at 2 hours and missing it. By the time your 2 hour BG has gone south you are pretty broken.
