Fat Fast In September Empty Fat Fast In September

Post by nomistheman Mon Aug 31 2015, 22:18

On some long lost forum (ahem) @merrylizard1314 @Baruney and myself posted our musings when we each performed a five day fat fast. @Zand posted seperately about their own less strict but, still very valid fat fast.

It is the intention to repeat the exercise but, post on this wonderful forum here about it! thumb-up

The date hasn't been set but, it's widely touted to be mid September.

    So, who's with us? welcome

Post by zand Mon Aug 31 2015, 22:26

Well I will do a fat fast sometime in September. At the moment I have just come down with a nasty cold and feel grotty (yep husband and son have man flu ) so if you all decide to do one before I'm better I'll start later than you. This time I want to do a days water fast first and then 5 days unlimited calories , mostly fat like last time. Again no exercise for this one. Next time I will add in exercise too.

Mid September would seem to be OK for me at the moment, but I'll let you know nearer the time.

    Thanks for this! Smile

What exercise? lol not a lot this year! Last year I walked at least a couple of miles most days. Now, what with a bad back and hip, I kind of ....stopped. But, yeh it's mostly walking when I do any. I struggle with it because whilst it's good for my general health I find that exercise often puts my BGs up (yep that's a poor excuse, but it's a bit demoralising).

Fat Fast In September Empty Re: Fat Fast In September

Post by nomistheman Fri Sep 04 2015, 10:26

Monday 14th September 2015 is the start day then.

I'm seriously considering a pre fat fast water fast as @zand said they may well do in the intro thread. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

What are we going to set as the parameters of the fat fast?

    Calories 1200
    Protein 5%
    Carbohydrate 5%
    Fat 90%

I'm going to spend the next week looking at recepies for designing my five evening meals.

I'm going to go with starting my day with my BulletProof coffee which will sustain me for at least six hours. I will probably have another six hours later and then six hours after that have my high fat meal.

    I also supplement with:

    On an empty stomach
Live bacteria - in a capsule.

    Pre meal
HCL to get my stomach acid levels correct.
    Digestive enzymes for digestive assistance.
Fish oil for Omega 3s - high DHA and EPA values.
FOS - to feed my friendly bacteria.
Super Greens - to ensure I'm getting the benefits of many green superfoods.

    Post meal
Ginkgo Biloba - for improved circulation or blood pump.
Rhodiola Rosea - an adaptogen to aid my mood.

There will also be two or three sessions of my C25K training in the five day fat fast and I will be looking to perform some strength type training too.

Welcome thoughts on all / any of this.

Set your own parameters - Zand wants to do a non restricted cals FF.

    I'm up for a PFFWF.

Not going to plan any great meals - well not that there are meals - going to BPC brekkie and lunch and have a meal with whatever cals and protein/carbs are left.

Exercise - going to push this quite hard to see what happens! Though as a get out clause - may wimp it if I've made a bad judgement call.

We starting a new thread or is this it?

Yeah, OK - I'm going with the parameters I suggested.

PFFWF seems like a really good precursor - I'm going to go for a 24 hour PFFWF.  thumb-up

That sounds similar to me - I'm just wanting to ensure I have the right food items in stock.

On the Fat Fast we did a couple of months ago I found that the "Woah Macademias" were too addictive and I can easily over-indulge on them!

Baruney wrote:Exercise - going to push this quite hard to see what happens! Though as a get out clause - may wimp it if I've made a bad judgement call.

I did two sessions of C25K last time and found my Blood Glucose levels much more stable whilst in ketosis and running.  run  I managed them easily too!

So, this time I want to add some resistance / strength training - may be Tabata style?

Baruney wrote:We starting a new thread or is this it?

This one's good for me but, feel free to start a new one - I'll be happy either way.

Post by zand Fri Sep 04 2015, 12:22

Yes guys my metabolism has been so messed up with low cal diets that I won't restrict calories anymore. It's a personal thing after very many years of dieting. I'm not sure I'll be ready for Sept 14th anyway. I have kept very few calories down in the last 4 days....and have put on half a pound in that time. Doesn't sound much, but my slim son has lost 7 pounds in the same time, with the same illness. I am just one of those women who needs to eat (the right things) to lose weight. So if I do start on Sept 14th I will forego the one day water fast, because I have effectively fasted for too long already.

Going to spend this pre Fat Fast week on a very low carb diet to hopefully achieve getting back into ketosis by the end of the week before next Sunday's PFFWF.

Going with macros of 5% Carbohydrates, 20% Protein, and 75% Fat. Calories 1300.

I want to start loosing some of the weight I've started to put on since the last Fat Fast popcorn but, mainly want to build some lean muscle - hence the 20% Protein.

Well good luck all of you. I'm sorry I'm pretty sure I won't be able to join you again. I still feel very weak and run down from this virus.

The only weight I've put on since my FF is a pound - gained since I've been ill this week and not eating a lot Mad Rolling Eyes

Speedy recovery zand sure we'll do a pre chrimbo one too. Pffwf followed by 3 days at 1k cals 80/5/5 mix. Last 2 days upping protein to 10%. No booze on exit for 2 weeks! Un restricted cals and upping protein to 15%. Exercise depends on state of feet. Might try some resistance instead.

I'm sure it's very wise to avoid joining our fat fast if you're still recovering or convalescing.

My wishes for a speedy recovery to you.

@skinnydipper These are the ones I use:

    Gut Bacteria

    Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS)

They both work really well for me.

@nomistheman Thank you for that information I will look into those.

I have tried VSL#3 which I did not rate at all but it had done well in studies. The one I am currently using is Renew Life Ultimate Flora and I am on my second month of Bimuno2. Just trying to keep my microbiome happy Smile

I admire you guys & gal for your fat fast. I am sure I couldn't manage it.

    Morning troops

7.1 fasting. Been rather indulgent of late so going back to my primal roots and off glam ping for the week in a Paleo recreation stlyee. Hunter gatherer here we go and thank god professor ashlock found those cave paintings showing a man making a bullet proof coffee with a handheld cappuccino frother. Well that what it looks like but open to interpretation.

Thanks @mo1905 but as you know most accidents happen at home or near home and there is more chance of being eaten at home by a tiger because of this http://www.aspinallfoundation.org/port-lympne#meettheanimals-3 though they are amur rather than sabre tooth.

than here where I have escaped due to dear of tigers....

"Wild animal" and "Kent" doesn't really spark authenticity in my opinion. Perhaps if the tigers have to share bathroom facilities it is referred to as being "wild" ?
